We set this ride up for the first part of our trip to the Black Hills as we would still be on east coast time and the 5:30 a.m. meeting time would easier. The only thing wrong with this tactic was this balloon ride set set the bar so high that everything else we did in the area dimmed in comparison.
The pilot and crew were very professional, but at the same time they were personable and entertaining. The pilot, Damien, patiently answered questions - I learned so much! My husband and I both agreed that Damien’s sense of humor and storytelling really pushed the flight from “a great ride” to “an amazing experience”. The take off and landing were gentle and I never felt uncomfortable, scared, or even apprehensive. The champagne toast at the end was very memorable - once again due to Damien’s storytelling, including a history of ballooning, and then the very touching toast. (I think his Irish accent added to the ambience.)
We entered the balloon a group of strangers and we exited the balloon with new friends! I can’t say enough good things about this attraction - don’t be afraid, just try it! You won’t be disappointed!
