Spent a good part of Sunday afternoon here. We figured an hour, maybe 90 minutes, but it took nearly 2.5 hours just to see the basic exhibits associated with the ship. No submarine (45 minute line in the sun), no Concorde (not open), none of the "Premium" experiences. Just visiting the ship and seeing how the sailors lived and then sitting in the gunnery chairs and being wowed by the planes and helicopters and checking out the Space Shuttle and then meeting one of the sailors who proudly served aboard the ship and had so much information to share! Great for families, or for couples like us without kids.

Great day out on an aircraft carrier that saw 30 years of active service. Has a Cold War submarine at location as well as the space shuttle and Concorde aircraft. Aircraft on deck and in the hangar. Great Manhattan backdrop.

I had been here once before but had limited time and it was busy so I had always wanted to come back. With the reopening, you had to get your ticket in advance and you have a 30 minute window to enter the exhibit. That being said, there are no time limits on staying. The end result is that you feel like you have the place to yourself and don't feel rushed or crowded. There was no one in line to go to the bridge and I had a great conversation with the docent and got to meet a gentlemen who had served on the Intrepid just before it was decommissioned in the 70's. They've done a great job in "Coviding" the exhibit and there was an active effort to keep the surfaces that you touch clean. Would recommend as a good activity to do now while the crowds are small.
