Went with my husband. Paid extra for concord tour - this was excellent. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The submarine was also good with 2 very good tour guides who had served on the submarine. Just a point though when entering through the unit they have made a imitation submarine port hole to climb through. This is steeper than the actual port holes and my husband cut his head open climbing through The intrepid vessel is vast. We didn’t get round it all but what we saw was excellent. The cafe was also nice. Would recommend

First east to get to by public transportation and a brisk walk. Went on a Wednesday and it was pretty empty. The main draws here were the Growler submarine and, of course, the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier. We went with a culture pass, so no cost. Regular adult admission I believe is $30 USD, plus extras such as the Concorde $7 or a water $2.50. Considering the size of the vessels, there wasn't all that much to see. Understandably, they just can't let you wander all over but it was fairly scripted in terms of where/how you should go. If you're into planes, old and new, you would probably love this place along with vets who served on such ships. Perhaps if we saw the intro movie, it would have been a 1 1/2 hr. wait, it might have laid the groundwork for a better experience. I would have liked to see the Concorde again but didn't see the extra fare for it. But I flew on it so it would have been a blast from the past. Mostly foreign tourists, Mexico, Poland, France, you name it...We traveled from Brooklyn. Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and were happy to answer any questions. Elevators were small and those with mobility issues should avoid the submarine. There were a lot of children there but whether they could really appreciate the museum, I kind of doubt it.

If you have CityPass or any paid voucher and you arrive to see a long line outside, do not get herded into the CityPass/Voucher line. Go to the shorter General Admission line for those who have not yet bought their tickets. The CityPass/Voucher line is twice as long because prepaid vouchers are very popular. Therefore, since they already have your money and you are committed, they make you wait longer than the customers who have not yet bought their ticket. They do not want to lose the potential customers who might not want to wait in a long line and might choose to move along to another NYC attraction instead. I experienced this first hand on Sunday, Feb 16th. Since we had a long time to wait and witness the hundred or so people who had no tickets just pass us in line, we started to complain and the staff simply said, "We have a process, folks. Do not worry, you will get in soon". When we called them out on their discrimination, they had no reply other than, "Have a nice day sir!". My bottom line advice, do not wait in the long line, just jump in the shortest line since the cashiers inside make no distinction whether you have a prepaid voucher or not. Disgraceful practice by the Intrepid management. Shame on you to make people (veterans included!) wait longer for no other reason than you already have their money!
