Sooo, this is a mixed review.
This is probably my fifth luau over the last many years.
All of the entertainers were excellent, especially the main storyteller/ mc, the canoe entrance of the royal court was unique and moving. The setting is not only historical, but beautiful, and the singers were also very good.
I ordered a special vegetarian plate, which was quite wonderful! The unearthing of the pig also happened in the middle of all of the festivities and my brother, who is a meat eater, really didn’t find where they had put out that dish afterwards. The dancers however, were all very talented and flowed with aloha energy!
So on the flipside, apparently it was not fully booked, which meant that the food portion of the evening went very fast. Unfortunately, people had just sat down to eat when they we’re invited to the Hulu lesson -away from the main stage, and then also after that the wonderful entrance of the Royal Court was announced and people left to go watch that.
Consequently, there were 100++ plates of food getting cold on the tables while people stood up (which we were asked to do to honor them ) and watched the festivities.
It felt very rushed and actually ended about a half hour early because they started the entertainment so early!
Note to the producers, really bad timing!
