The excursion overall was a lot of fun, especially since we were lucky with clear weather and some sun. The pick up point from the cruise dock to the shuttle was seamless. The drive to the glacier is about 20 minutes. Our driver Jack narrated the tour and pointed out points of interests on our way to the glacier. At the glacier, we had one hour of free time, enough time to take some pictures of the glacier from across the lake (you don’t go up to the glacier), visit the visitor center which I would recommend, and maybe squeeze in a short hike. From the glacier, the shuttle takes you to Auke Bay, which is where you depart for the whale watching portion. Know that it takes 30-40 minutes on the catamaran to get to location where you’ll be able to go out on the deck to see whales. James was a wonderful captain (super smooth driving, I can get seasick, but was fine), and Greg and Monica were fantastic guides and are super knowledgeable about the whales. Also SUPER quick at identifying the whales. We learned so much, saw quite a few whales, and had a fun time. Highly recommend!
