What an incredible paddle and hike! Sean is an awesome guide, giving plenty of information, but also hanging back to allow us to take in the beauty of the canyon. The paddle was estimated to be about 5 miles round trip and the hike a few miles, so this is an excursion for those who love to be active. Our girls loved it, ranging in ages from 11-15. Definitely a 5-star experience that we will never forget! Thank you, Sean!

Thank you Kim I had a great day with you and your family, it all started out well with communication and your commitment to obligate the necessary time to be ready. You arrived in plenty of time before the event, you also had appropriately planned the day before events so you were well rested. It’s so important to note how you didn’t overbook yourself with events and therefore you arrived fresh, relaxed, and ready for the adventure. It’s often underestimated what it takes to be able to do the 5 miles of kayaking along with a few miles of hiking while doing it in reasonable time because it’s not a very common activity for most people. 8 miles in the wilderness in 3.5 hours is not easy if your are underestimating it. I’m very glad you had a great time and thank you very much for leaving feedback as it’s so helpful and in todays instant world it seems like the art of gratitude is going away and being replaced with extreme entitlement. Thank you very much for your extra efforts to post feedback it makes a huge impact. Thank you for being such great people.

We were given a jumble of letters and numbers as the meeting place. Didn't understand those were coordinates. Never seen them written like that. Couldn't reach Sean when we were lost, so we were 20 min late and he refused to take us. I was so disappointed, and out almost $500.

Lea Norcross of Champaign, Illinois my deepest apologies but you’re aware that TripAdvisor will vett a subjective opinion from a customer that’s why you can be so misleading to the facts here and keep this in subjective language. Less than 10% of customers leave a review, and the stats are amazingly in my favor with a stellar 4.95 across all my platforms that means 99% of the time the experience is the best ever. To add to that I have over 300 positive reviews across all platforms in less than 4 years of business so that actually means I’ve served over 3000 people and less than 10 have been unhappy. Unfortunately for the 1% who are not prepared it’s not so great. Why? I don’t operate in delays. No delays in my game because the 99% are relying upon me to be consistent and on time. Unfortunately I have only had this experience listed on Viator for a few months so considering I already have 12 positive reviews that is phenomenal as that means I’ve served over a 120 people in less than 3 months and they all had the best time ever. That doesn’t include those who left reviews on other sites such as Google where I have over 225 positive reviews. So subjectively my response is: You were over 30 minutes late and full of excuses, it’s all documented on text. I have text and call records that certainly are in my favor to this silly subjective conversation or review and response scenario that is being vetted. Unfortunately because of the “management reasons” I can’t be direct on how I feel about the text messages, and the call that is factual in saying you realized at 9:24 am you were late and lost but in subjective you were lost and you became late because I didn’t answer the call. So I’m possibly implying that someone wasn’t prepared, and didn’t arrive 30 minutes before the event time starts. Sorry but the National Park Service guidelines are what they are, and safety standards need to be addressed which usually takes at least 10 minutes if customers are not aloof. Sorry everyone has to be properly processed like the event description details said. No excuse, or exceptions the schedule will continue with or without mutual clients. You are provided all the necessary information to understand where exactly I am for the safety and orientation of the tour and where we launch, the bottom of Antelope Point launch ramp. They were right next to the written directions that were also next to the coordinates which show you the pin drop location. I provided where and when and those who obligate the proper time to understand where and when are able to execute for the win! Sorry you simply didn’t execute your end of the contract agreement. So I’m confused how you were so confused and as a wilderness medicine professional my scene assessment of you when you arrived was that you arrived dehydrated in the morning due to your complexion. I feared you had alcohol in your blood due to the sluggishness, or lack of time comprehension, and confusion that you had displayed. So even if you were on time I might not have been willing to take you out on the water because you did not look ready, and you didn’t look fit to be adventurous on the day. I’m legitimately allowed to do that if I sense alcohol is a factor because of dehydration, and the dangers and liability associated with that during a 8 mile 3.5 hour non stop activity. So sorry this is what I was upholding while you weren’t able to get in touch with me. I was delivering the gear down a 40’ hillside on the bottom of the launch ramp, and I had a total of 5 kayaks that weighed 65 pounds. 3 of those tandems were allocated for you. I also had my own kayak, a 45 pound single to walk down a single track trail. On top of that I had the other pieces of equipment, paddles and vest to unload. Not to mention I had other clients on that tour so I had their gear to prepare too. So a tour of 10 people can have 25-30 total pieces of equipment to unload and taking calls during that time is a distraction and makes me delayed for the event. I’m very confused about how the other clients booked with Viator/TripAdvisor too, and they didn’t have any issues with the directions either the GPS, or the written description of how to get to the launch ramp. Sorry I’m terribly confused about that one as I’ve gone back to check the jumble of information you claimed was provided and there a hyperlink to a map that exactly where the event is. Sorry but you clearly failed to take the time to read, look, understand where and when so you didn’t win. Failure to prepare is preparing to fail and clearly you executed that! Sorry I had all the gear ready to go, and you were nowhere near the event location 30 minutes prior to event time for safety, and orientation. Lea before people get lost at this long winded response from the subjective based misinformation you are allowed to submit, you were offered a reschedule. Then a voucher. Sorry not a partial refund like you automatically deferred to after the mess was already made. You don’t get a partial refund because of the labor, and expense involved in loading the trailer, and transporting your gear from the facility to the lake plus off the trailer to the shore. That’s a very expensive cost inside of the event ticket that sometimes people forget to actually count. With that said you had obligations to know where to go, and be on time per the directions, and description of the event you paid for. Unfortunately you were lost, and you called 6 minutes before you were supposed to arrive at the event but after the fact you claimed that you were at a location that was 20 minutes away from where I was but you had 6 minutes to get there. So you see, not only did you then admit later that you didn’t prepare, and gather the information provided provided, but you never truly apologized for being so disruptive with your impulsive text that were saying you were closer to the event than you actually were. Those texts were very distracting and caused me a lot of anxiety, and stress because you were misleading me about your arrival time, and overall readiness. Your last text said you were ready to go but your car wasn’t parked legally, and only you were out of the car while it was literally 10:01 am and I was pushing off the shoreline. Sorry you didn’t obligate your time appropriately to understand what you needed to do to arrive on time. With that said sorry you were void of contract. You held those spots for two weeks, and they could have been filled with customers who were not void of contract type people. Sorry about your struggle to understand simple directions that TripAdvisor, and myself drafted, and put it in writing along with GPS location. Sorry but nobody else has struggled with the same issue. I could have filled that tour with people who would have been very appreciative of the tour like the 98% of the reviews suggest, look at the legacy on Google from the last 4 years of business. The only other negative review here is from someone who was mad I made them wait for people who were late like yourselves. So I’ve learned I don’t defer to the late and underprepared. Why? Well because that’s 2% of the business yet 95% of the anxiety in the industry. I was warned in 2023 about the petty people who come through this platform of Viator and I won’t fold to the 2% who are not forthright about their responsibilities as a customer. The contract agreement goes both ways. So here’s some optics for you. Yes let me apologize profusely. So sorry you were not just 20 minutes late you were 30+ minutes late for a 210 minute event. You were under committed for this experience. You were not late because of you, it was definitely my fault you were 30 minutes late. Sorry I failed you but you only paid for 3.5 hours of a tour which included rental of a kayak, a paddle, and personal floatation device. This also includes my time to deliver, and pick-up the gear which I did and that’s why you didn’t get a refund. I didn’t get any gratitude from that gear leaving my trailer and I also didn’t get any positive feedback. So in fact what I lost was time afterwards defusing the situation, 20% gratuities from your party of 6 ($120) and some peace of mind while I started that tour because of you. You reserved the gear, and part of the contract agreement was you needed to be on time. You didn’t understand I laid out the gear for you ahead of your arrival as part of the process but I had to put some of it away when I knew you were going to be late as some people have tried to take it out on their own and ruin the vibe of the tour because we didn’t wait. I actually got a bad review from that situation before where two different mutual clients, one from TripAdvisor and another from a separate booking partner both wrecked a tour because one was late to arrive and the other was mad they had to turn around at a certain point after they waited for someone who arrived late. That was what you were doing, trying to make others wait and get cut short on their adventure time as a result. Not something I want to do to customers who have the ability to arrive on time and ready. So what you paid for, it includes the time to host you on the tour, between the tour hours. You didn’t pay for my consultation of GPS interpretations, or any taxis services to the event, or any personal assistance fees for allowing you enough time to be on time. Sorry about the fact you couldn’t get a hold of me after you knew you were late and sorry I can’t press stop on time. Sorry but text message timeline suggest you were able to get a hold of me but you were already going to be late. You were nowhere near water 30 minutes before the event so I deferred to customers who were on time, and most importantly prepared. I always defer to the 98% of the customers who are preparing for fun, and on time. I have over 300 5 star reviews, and less than 10 negative over all my platforms. The negative reviews all have a common denominator with the customer being late. I’m very patient, and I communicate well when the customer does too within reasonable limits. No after hours text the night before or last minute calls right before event time claiming to be lost because of misinformation.

Sean was amazing guide! He was patient, very knowledgeable about the area and overall we felt very safe with him and he provided us such an amazing experience. We were her the first week of December and it was truly amazing to have the whole Lake and canyon to ourselves as no other guide company does kayaking this late in the year. This is a must-do as you are planning your travels!!
