Rodger and his assistant, Mark, did a great job of taking us out. We were almost a mile out. Safety was key, and we felt that througout. They are sensible and conscientious. We didn't see a whale, though we tried. The kayaks were comfortable and efficient. I learned a lot on the excursion. I did have my hopes up on the whale. Maybe it's best to downplay the possible encounter, just in case we don't see one. Thanks!

Though initially communication was a little hit or miss, Roger got in touch with me directly a few days before we left. (we were trying to communicate from Winnipeg to Maui and the time difference was an issue.) Roger was helpful from the very start of booking, both quick and efficient. We did need to reschedule due to a wind advisory and Roger puts safety first. Arriving the morning of our excursion, we easily found the area and his green pickup, due to his precise directions. He was quick to point out even safety on the beach, and certainly issues that would have made kayaking or even snorkelling in this area a poor choice for those unfamiliar with the area. Our day was overcast, but waters were very clear. We saw turtles almost instantly and many gathered at the turtle cleaning stations Roger led us to. He is a very knowledgable and passionate about whales! Which we did see from afar during our excursion... kayaking back after 3hours of snorkelling and kayaking out on the ocean required effort. Roger did not hurry us, and his assistant, Seth, patiently guided us back as a Roger went ahead. My hubby loved it! I loved being out in the ocean like this. I would absolutely go again. Thank you for this unique experience.

Roger Poel aka 'Red' did an excellent job taking us kayaking. We had perfect conditions and clear beautiful water. It was our group's very first time kayaking. 2 adults, and 3 kids ages 10, 10 & 12. Everyone got the hang of kayaking with Red's excellent instructions. During our snorkeling we saw schools of fish, sea urchins & 3 sea turtles; the kids were amazed and fascinated. Our excursion took a little less than 3 hours, a perfect amount of time for the kids. Would definitely book again with Red.
