Like Aialik, Holgate Glacier is surrounded by steep cliffs, dense forests and towering mountain peaks. Visitors may see spectacular calving events as ice chunks break and crash into the ocean. Though rare, black bears have been sighted on the beaches in Holgate arm.

The cruise was on a large catamaran with indoor seating. You could go outside along the deck if you wanted. The ship captain narrated and was very good at spotting wildlife. We saw a whale, sea otters, and puffins. The landscape was beautiful when we reached our destination, Holgate Glacier. They offered a nice deli lunch. You could buy soft drinks or alcoholic drinks if you wanted. The only negative was the weather. It was 45 degrees, windy, and misty the entire day.

Our first trip was canceled due to weather. They made it easy to re-schedule. The day of our trip was perfect! The crew was helpful and informative.

Amazing captain and crew. We saw Orcas and an amazing tidal glacier. Incredible day spent on boat and so glad we did it. We had bad weather and it was still perfect
