I could have easily spent 3-4 hours here. The offer a great 30 walking tour that is informative and takes you inside the arena/track. And a great 10-15 minute video on a huge oval screen. There are other tours I wish I had done more research on and would have been able to do. They were an additional cost but take you back to the horse stables and the back parts of the property. The museum itself is very fun with lots of interactive exhibits, treasures of the past.

If you did not know it the museum and race track is in the middle of town. My daughter and I enjoyed the visit. Went in with a G Admission tickets and spent almost 2 hours even was able to go down to the track. If you never been this is a must

I had little knowledge of the Derby going in, and I was not sure what to expect from the museum. As someone who has visited quite a few museums, I thought the Kentucky Derby Museum was well thought-out and interactive. I was there with several people who were clearly devotees of the Derby, and I think the museum did a good job of catering to visitors whose knowledge of horse racing varied greatly. Interactive experiences included a fantastic 360-degree movie that put you in the middle of the action, simulated horse racing (great for kids!) and bet placement, and even a station where you could learn about the horse that won in the year you were born (and watch the race itself!). Our tour of Churchill Downs was the highlight. Our tour leader was passionate about the Derby, and his enthusiasm was contagious. I came away with such an appreciation of the event and of Derby culture. This was one of the highlights of my Louisville visit. Highly recommended!
