A beautiful, spotless, well-kept collection of Derby memorabilia - cups, jockey silks, ball gowns and of course, Derby Day hats, and more! Don't miss the film projected on a 360-degree oval race track-shaped screen, and do the tour! It isn't long, is easy to walk, and if you are lucky, you will get to meet a retired Derby competitor horse! The guide was super-knowledgeable about the Derby and racing, and was easy to follow and understand. A great little visit for you if you thoroughbred racing!

LOVED this experience! I knew nothing about Churchill Downs/horse racing before today, and this was very informative! We went on the Barn & Backside tour as well as the walking tour included in general admission. Both tour guides were great - very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend doing the Backside tour before 10 am to see the horses train. The museum was awesome- 2 floors, a 360 degree theater, and a cafe. We spent almost 2 hours looking at a the exhibits. Also, the staff was very friendly! We arrived a couple minutes late to the Backside tour (after the van had taken off), but the tour guide was radioed and turned the van back around for us!

The Kentucky Derby, also known as the Race for the Roses, is attended by approximately 160,000 people every year. The Kentucky Derby Museum, located adjacent to Churchill Downs, is open seven days a week year round and will give you a behind the scenes look at the Kentucky Derby minus the crowds. Visit the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville, Kentucky. If you would like to see what the hoopla of the Kentucky Derby is all about without the throngs of people, you should definitely visit the Kentucky Derby Museum. Not only will you have access to two floors of interactive exhibits detailing the history of the Kentucky Derby, you will also get a 30 minute walking tour of Churchill Downs and you will get a view a 360 degree media experience called “The Greatest Race”. Admission to the museum includes a walking tour of Churchill Downs. This experience was what I enjoyed most. The history of the Derby can be felt as you walk the grounds.
