Vallée de Lamar

Si la faune est votre passion, laissez-nous vous guider à travers le "Serengeti américain" sur le sentier de la rivière Lamar. La vallée de Lamar est réputée pour sa faune abondante. Ce sentier en particulier vous permet de laisser les routes et la foule derrière vous pour suivre les traces (souvent littéralement) des animaux dans l'arrière-pays. Cette randonnée aller-retour nous mènera sur une passerelle à travers Soda Butte Creek où les canards, les huards et les cygnes abondent. De là, nous continuons à travers les prairies à travers l'habitat prospère des bisons. Nous balayerons les lignes d'arbres à la recherche de mouflons à grandes cornes, de pronghorn et du célèbre loup gris tout en continuant dans la vallée. Nous trouverons un endroit pittoresque pour un pique-nique nutritif. En fonction de vos objectifs pour la journée, nous monterons progressivement vers Specimen Ridge ou ferons demi-tour plus tôt pour une randonnée plus légère. Peu importe la distance parcourue ou le nombre d'animaux que nous voyons, ce sentier est toujours gratifiant avec des vues sur la montagne, des fleurs sauvages et la solitude.

Lamar Valley

If wildlife is your passion, let us lead you through the “American Serengeti” on the Lamar River Trail. The Lamar Valley is renowned for its abundant wildlife. This trail in particular, lets you leave the roads and crowds behind you to follow the footsteps (often literally) of the animals into the backcountry. This out and back hike will lead us over a footbridge across Soda Butte Creek where ducks, loons, and swans abound. From there, we continue across the meadows through thriving bison habitat. We’ll scan the tree lines for big horn sheep, pronghorn, and the famous grey wolf as we continue through the valley. We will find a scenic spot for a nutritious picnic. Based on your goals for the day, we will gradually climb up toward Specimen Ridge or turn around earlier for a lighter hike. No matter how far we hike or how many animals we see, this trail is always rewarding with mountain views, wildflowers, and solitude.

Recently returned from an amazing hike with Wildland Trekking in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone! Beautiful hike through a pretty remote area of the park. Our guide, Sara, was terrific -- extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area, which made the trip even more enjoyable! I highly recommend this hike and look forward to going back again!

The hike was great. We saw many animals including antelope and a badger. The healthy picnic on the banks of the Lamar river was especially nice. Our wildland trekking guide, Amber, was professional, knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommended.

Our tour guide Sara did an amazing job. She was very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife that we saw. We got to see so many different animals while never feeling like we were in danger. This hike was the highlight for myself and the rest of our family while in Yellowstone! The snacks, lunches, backpacks, and trekking poles provided made for an enjoyable hike all around.
