Lamar Valley
If wildlife is your passion, let us lead you through the ā€œAmerican Serengetiā€ on the Lamar River Trail. The Lamar Valley is renowned for its abundant wildlife. This trail in particular, lets you leave the roads and crowds behind you to follow the footsteps (often literally) of the animals into the backcountry. This out and back hike will lead us over a footbridge across Soda Butte Creek where ducks, loons, and swans abound. From there, we continue across the meadows through thriving bison habitat. Weā€™ll scan the tree lines for big horn sheep, pronghorn, and the famous grey wolf as we continue through the valley. We will find a scenic spot for a nutritious picnic. Based on your goals for the day, we will gradually climb up toward Specimen Ridge or turn around earlier for a lighter hike. No matter how far we hike or how many animals we see, this trail is always rewarding with mountain views, wildflowers, and solitude.

My wife and I took the full day Lamar Valley hike and were just blown away. Carlos, our guide, was great!!!!!! Our safety was first on the list as our hike took us into the back country. We are not experienced hikers by any means but we felt safe with Carlos. He was very knowledgeable about many different things and made the hike even more enjoyable. Eric was new to this company and was shadowing Carlos and only added to the great experience we had. Saw Lamar Valley in a way you could not from just the road in Yellowstone and it was fantastic. The lunch provided was great as well!!!!!

I just returned from a trip to Wyoming where I had booked a day hike on the Lamar River with Wildland Trekking. It was a gift to my work team. We were all staying at the Hampton Inn in Bozeman, and drove down to Wyoming in the morning. Adriana McNeme was our guide and we had an unbelievable time. There were 6 of us on the hike and she tailored our hike based on our physical skill level and how adventuresome we were. Animals, exercisw, beautiful views and a phenomenal handmade lunch were some of what ended up being a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us all. Highly recommend and Adriana was wonderful!!!

Chris Rappinach really catered to our personal goals for the hike. We really wanted to see wildlife. This was a bucket list trip, traveling across the country from Florida to Yellowstone. He was highly professional, skilled, personable and knowledgeable. Although wildlife is inherently unpredictable, with his knowledge and expertise and a little divine intervention, we were blessed to come upon an entire herd of bison grazing. We watched them frolic, play, run and saunter for a long time - from a safe distance, of course, but minus the roads and traffic. It was a fantastic hike in Lamar valley. Being unfamiliar with the area but eager to pack in as much as possible, local knowledge is in dispensable. I doubt we ever would have found this trailhead let alone the right trailhead to view wildlife up close without his expertise. Memories of this adventure will last a lifetime and we have fabulous photos to boot!! Highly recommend this company and hope to do llama trekking trips with Chris in the future.
