The tour involves driving to then hiking thru horseshoe Bend, then driving to then hiking to then hiking through, lower antelope Canyon. Tilford and his father Thomas picked us up at our hotel. My wife and I are both a little claustrophobic and we’re in the back of the van to begin with but that got better quickly. That was our only concern. There were seven total passengers. First stop was horseshoe band. Seems like it was about a mile and a half hike on very level smooth ground down to horseshoe Bend. Can’t quite remember the distance. Anyways despite the crowd it was very easy to move to the edge and get great pictures. Tilford is a wonderful photographer in addition to a fabulous guide. He helped everyone with the settings on their phone camera to get the most optimal picture. He was so patient and kind and clearly has a passion for the area, as a Navajo, And was born and raised locally. His father was very nice as well. Easily the highlight of the trip is antelope Canyon. We did lower. We understand that upper canyon is narrower at the top, perhaps a little wider at the bottom, and beams of light come through that create a very cool visual. We did lower antelope Canyon and could not have been happier. We were also told that lower it’s a bit more challenging to navigate in terms of ladders to climb and stairs to descend. However, as an older aging man with some orthopedic and spine issues, that was not a problem at all for me. I am a little claustrophobic but Tilford helped me navigate the entire trip and was just a godsend. The photographs we took, with Tilford’s help, were perhaps the most beautiful on our entire 12 day trip through the national parks. It is so beautiful so interesting and his leader ship as a guide was priceless. It is worth every penny and every minute we spent. At the end there is a bonus and I will not spoil the surprise. We would do this again in a heartbeat and no doubt we would ask for this fine man to shepherd us through.
