On a vacation to Inverness, we decided to go swim with the manatees for Valentine's Day. My hubs surprised me and booked the semi-private outing. (Worth the extra money, b. t. dubs) We had such a great time! Megan was a fantastic guide! She had great stories to share, and lots of fun facts! Ryan was a great captain, and also had fun stories to share. It was obvious that these two love what they do for a living. It is a delight to see how much they enjoy sharing their passion with others. 20/10 would do again. We heard Fun2Dive also has a scallop trip during the summer, and we plan to check it out. Fun2Dive is lucky to have Megan and Ryan on board! We were lucky enough to see a LOT of manatees on our trip. Due to the weather, we were told there may not be many in the area we were heading to, but would try other spots if Three Sisters did not have a lot of activity. We lucked out, and got to spend all of our time in that area. Ryan planned to show us the Three Sisters spring not only to hopefully, see some manatees, but also, because it is a beautiful spot that boats cannot enter. You can only get in by swimming. That was a real treat! We had heard prior to our trip about Megan's talents as a guide and we were not disappointed! We called her the "manatee whisperer" on our way back. She is very familiar with their behavior, which allows her to lead and instruct her groups to more opportunities to see these beautiful creatures. Ryan, also, had hot chocolate waiting for us when we got back to the boat! It was just what we needed afterwards!
Just a few details about the company: Wetsuits were provided. You can wear watershoes if you like, but I went barefoot. You don't touch the ground under the water the whole trip, as you are instructed to stay floating (they help you with this). The only thing we wished we had done, was brought underwater cameras. Megan took photos of the group and various parts of the trip. You can purchase these afterwards, if you don't want to bother with a camera.
