This was a thoroughly professionally organized tour but with enough informality to ensure it was an enjoyable experience. We had a full muster but the boat never seemed cramped and the crew always took a personal interest in everyone. The information about the manta rays was great. The crew was also most helpful on any general questions. But it wasn't until I was in the water and the first manta ray did it's roll virtually brushing up against my chest that I knew I had chosen a winner. Around 45 minutes later I reluctantly reboarded the boat having had an unforgettable experience that no words can do justice to. I realized then just how much the knowledge and experience of this tour operator had contributed to the success of this trip. They had the right equipment and knew exactly where and when to get the best viewing of the manta rays. My advice if you are on Big Island is to take this trip. You won't regret it.

This is the HIGHLIGHT of our Hawaii trip. The wait was long but it was all worth it as we managed to secure the spot the captain wanted. We were well taken care of and the experience was SURREAL! The manta rays came rolling inches from our faces and I will never forget that experience. Thanks Manta Adventures for this once-in-a-lifetime expeience!!

When traveling to Big Island, you have A LOT of choices when it comes to diving and snorkeling with the manta rays. Friends had advised us to do a manta ray dive, but my husband is not PADI certified. So he looked into a snorkeling adventure that would still give us a great experience with seeing manta rays. He found Manta Adventures by reading reviews, and they were good. And, they did not disappoint. First, friendly and welcoming. We arrived at the time they requested so we could get sized for our wet suits by Shawna. Second, Captain Bill gave us the run down of boarding the boat, safety and what to expect. Third, we had some water and pineapple to snack on while getting out to the snorkel location (which ends up being not far from the airport). Fourth, we got a walk through the manta rays that tend to make regular appearances in this area... like Big Bertha, a manta ray over 15 feet wide! Fifth, during that time, you get to know your fellow snorkelers... which was great. Then sixth, after waiting for dusk and the lights turned on to attract the plankton, we got in the water on a "snorkel board" and waited for the action. We had about 50 minutes in the water, and oh what a show it was. We are told that Big Island is the ONLY place where the manta rays do the barrel rolls to feed on the plankton... and they were rolling right in front of our faces! It was a fantastic experience all the way around. I'd highly recommend this company for the manta ray snorkel. And, if we are ever back on Big Island, I'd snorkel with them again. Our trip with them was May 31, 2018.
