Your expert guides will lead you on a journey across Mendenhall Lake where you will paddle together with a small group past icebergs, giant waterfalls, and wildlife. On your way to the ice, you will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery of mountain peaks nestled in the Tongass National Forest. Upon landing the canoe at a remote beach site, your guides will safely lead you on an interpretive hike around the rocky surfaces located directly in front of the glacier. Every tour is unique and space is limited, making this Juneau’s most exciting and sought-after adventure tour.

Great experience! Once in a lifetime sights, the Mendenhall Glacier was spectacular, the bear sighting was magical, the spray on your face from waterfall mist was exhilarating. The ice bergs in the lake and the bald eagles just made it all the more special. I haven’t even got to the best part of the experience yet - our guides!! Boots and Meara! Ok so you may have to deal with a few moaners during the bad jokes but in the end they were the best! They led us into Wonderland and back to base camp with passion, knowledge, kindness and dedication to make our experience special! We also MUST mention Tara. Tara was the dock agent who answered our questions about an excursion with a different company. Not only was Tara kind and understanding as we explained our challenges she took our number and called us with news we couldn’t get anywhere else and walked us through booking this fantastic replacement. This is a MUST DO if you are ever in Juneau Alaska!!

It is not too often that you get to see a bear out on the Mendenhall Lake and to do so with Meara and Boots must have been a treat! We are so happy that Tara was able to help you out and get you on tour with us. Thank you for joining us on the lake!

Boots and Meara were really good guides. Our original excursion was cancelled due to rain and choppy water. The weather paused for exactly the amount of time needed for the 5 hour journey. It was gorgeous. On the ride over, good information about the area, good timing- time spent there and at random points. Lots of wildlife- bald eagles, black bears, etc. and warm drinks at the end. Also, 1 of 2 companies that can go all the way to the glacier, others don’t have the permits allowing them to get closer.

Perfect weather windows are a rare occurrence here in Juneau but It seems like everything fell into place for your tour! Boots and Meara are wonderful guides to have out on the lake and we are happy you enjoyed your time with them! Thank you for joining us during your time in Juneau!

My adult family of 4 went on this tour and it was our favorite excursion of our Juneau vacation by far (we also did a helicopter ice walk and whale watching). Sarah and Alec were our guides. They were incredibly kind and easy to talk to from the very beginning. We received very nice rain gear, gloves, boots, helmets, snack bags, and hiking/canoe equipment. Our guides did a great job of going over rules and safety before the adventure began. I really liked how both Sarah and Alec made a point to remember our names and get to know each one of us during the trip. It was a much more personal and individualized experience that way. As we paddled our way to the glacier, Sarah and Alec taught us a great deal about the glacier, the lake, the different wildlife, and about Juneau/Alaska in general. They also not had a great sense of humor and were cracking jokes along the way. As the hiking portion of the trip began, I was really impressed with Sarah and Alec’s awareness and care towards my mothers somewhat limited mobility. Alec was our lead on the hike and was always keeping my mother in mind by choosing the easiest paths as well as going back to help in rockier areas. Sarah stayed toward the back with my mom the whole time keeping her company and making sure she was doing okay with the terrain. That was a huge relief for us and made the tour very enjoyable for our family. Because our guides were so wonderful, I’d like to dedicate part of my review to each of their strengths and why we loved them as our guides. Sarah was very organized and detail oriented. This made our trip very smooth and we all felt very comfortable with our roles and her instructions on our journey. She was down to earth. I could tell she loved her job and what it means to be a tour guide. She gave us many recommendations of things to do and places to go while on our vacation. She was cool, calm and collected and made the journey feel effortless and safe. She is a wonderful guide between her leadership, personality, and knowledge. Alec integrated his background of history, environmental studies, and sustainability into the job so well, creating an enriching and educational experience. He was dedicated to finding out our specific interests and providing us with learning opportunities. My family loved that as we picked his brain and enjoyed hearing all that he knew. You could tell he’s the kind of person (and guide) that wherever he goes he immerses himself into the unique environment and does his research. Overall this was an amazing experience that we would recommend to anyone. Afterward, Alec and Sarah served us hot drinks and we chatted for a bit. It was quite nice. Definitely book with this company!
