If you have a free afternoon in Atlanta and like trying and learning about new food experiences and places to go then this is for you. The tour is led by John who is a long time local and advocate of Midtown, this shows in his passion for the area and his knowledge not only of the places on the tour but of many others in the area. John is a font of local knowledge and could easily plan a weeks worth of different places to eat for you as well as places to see and visit for the rest of your Atlanta stay. Obviously a food tour has to have some good food (tick) and for me I like some local food (tick) and something different I haven't had before (tick) as well as providing an insight into the local area and its history (tick). But what elevates this tour is John (I wasn't lucky enough to meet his wife Geri who others also mention), his enthusiasm, knowledge and just being an all round nice guy. As an example I was asking John the best way for me to walk from my hotel to the office I was working in the next day, not only did he provide directions but he volunteered to meet me at my hotel in the morning and guide me to the office! That is above and beyond in my book. Will definitely look John and Geri up next time I am in town, thank you from London!

Thanks B.!! I grin now, remembering trying to give you directions from your hotel to the office you were working out of...and how to cut through our beautiful Piedmont Park...and then find the entrance to our new, very walkable, Beltline...and it sure made more sense to be your morning guide!! Plus,It would have given me even more time to show off my Midtown neighborhood! Ha!
Ah-h-h-..."and could easily plan a weeks worth of of different places to eat....to see...and to visit." Quite true! All of my guests truly enjoy the "Suggestions" attachment that I email out, something that my wife and I put together as sometimes a local's perspective can be helpful. Not only food but FUN! And then there are all those questions my guests have re: BBQ, shopping, festivals, other tours, etc.... and yesterday it was, "Where would you take your wife to dinner if it was your 30th anniversary?" Hm-m-m-m..... :)
Atlanta is a big city! Lots of choices! Often a Food Tour can really be quite the learning experience as your guide certainly wants you to enjoy their city!!
My best!! John
