Minneapolis is a city deeply committed to the arts, with a set of core values that celebrates creativity, diversity, and community. This walking tour through the heart of Minneapolis is a perfect blend of the arts and urban life.

We'll walk the length of Nicollet Mall, a showcase of public art that transforms the heart of downtown into an open-air gallery. This mile-long corridor features a diverse range of sculptures and installations that reflect the city’s culture and history. We'll encounter a mix of notable buildings both historic and modern, all contributing to the unique character of downtown.

The Loring Greenway will take us to Loring Park where vibrant water features, pavilions, and bronze, abstract & whimsical sculptures reside. Then, on to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, which sits adjacent to the Walker Art Center and features over 40 sculptures across 11 acres! Inspiration is all around!

Guthrie Theater

This is where we will begin our tour. The Guthrie Theater is open to all, giving everyone the opportunity to appreciate its clever architecture and spectacular views of the Mississippi River from its unique vantage point. (Dependent on Guthrie lobby hours.)

Gold Medal Park

A place for community gathering alongside the Guthrie Theater, this park offers stunning views of the cityscape. It takes its inspiration from the Native American mounds that are found throughout Minnesota.

Mill Ruins Park

This park interprets the history of flour milling in Minneapolis and showcases the ruins of several flour mills that were abandoned.

U.S. Bank Stadium

From here we will take a short ride on the light rail to our next stop. This light rail connects both downtown St. Paul and the Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis.

First Avenue & 7th St Entry

A tour of Minneapolis would be incomplete without a nod to our beloved Prince. We'll stop by to read the writing on the wall. Be the first this summer to see the new 100-foot-tall mural of Prince, painted by muralist Hiero Veiga.

Nicollet Mall

This mile-long, pedestrian oasis is lined by bars and restaurants overflowing onto the sidewalks, art, bountiful greenery, and many shopping options. Stop and chat with the iconic Mary Tyler Moore! We'll also hit a few well-known murals along the way.

IDS Building

Tallest building in Minnesota, the IDS stands at 792 feet above the city and is at the core of the downtown Minneapolis skyway system, which is the largest, contiguous enclosed walkway in the world! Let's stop in to see the award-winning 23,000 square foot urban park that is Crystal Court.

Foshay Tower

The Foshay was completed in 1929 and modeled after the Washington Monument. It's a fine example of Art Deco architecture. It remained the tallest building in Minneapolis until 1972. From the observation deck high above the city streets, it's easy to imagine what it once was in its early glory days. This is where our tour will end and you can choose to visit the observation deck on your own. I will also suggest some great restaurants in the area for lunch.

Théâtre Guthrie

C'est ici que nous commencerons notre visite. Le théâtre Guthrie est ouvert à tous, donnant à chacun la possibilité d'apprécier son architecture intelligente et ses vues spectaculaires sur le fleuve Mississippi depuis son point de vue unique. (Selon les heures d'ouverture du hall de Guthrie.)

Parc de la médaille d'or

Parc des ruines du moulin

De là, nous ferons un court trajet en tramway jusqu'à notre prochain arrêt. Ce métro léger relie le centre-ville de St. Paul et le Mall of America au centre-ville de Minneapolis.

Une visite de Minneapolis serait incomplète sans un clin d'œil à notre prince bien-aimé. Nous nous arrêterons pour lire l'écriture sur le mur. Soyez le premier cet été à voir la nouvelle murale de Prince de 100 pieds de haut, peinte par le muraliste Hiero Veiga.

Centre commercial Nicollet

Cette oasis piétonne longue d'un kilomètre est bordée de bars et de restaurants débordant sur les trottoirs, d'œuvres d'art, d'une verdure abondante et de nombreuses options de shopping. Arrêtez-vous et discutez avec l'emblématique Mary Tyler Moore! Nous verrons également quelques peintures murales bien connues en cours de route.

Bâtiment IDS

Le plus haut bâtiment du Minnesota, l'IDS se dresse à 792 pieds au-dessus de la ville et se trouve au cœur du système de voies aériennes du centre-ville de Minneapolis, qui est la plus grande passerelle fermée contiguë au monde ! Arrêtons-nous pour voir le parc urbain primé de 23 000 pieds carrés qu'est Crystal Court.

Tour Foshay

Le Foshay a été achevé en 1929 et inspiré du Washington Monument. C'est un bel exemple d'architecture Art déco. Il est resté le plus haut bâtiment de Minneapolis jusqu'en 1972. Depuis la terrasse d'observation au-dessus des rues de la ville, il est facile d'imaginer ce qu'il était autrefois à ses premiers jours de gloire. C'est là que notre visite se terminera et vous pourrez choisir de visiter la terrasse d'observation par vous-même. Je vais également suggérer quelques bons restaurants dans la région pour le déjeuner.

The Sculpture Garden at the Walker Art Center is beloved by all our city dwellers. It's the place we all want to show off to our visitors. It's one of the largest sculpture gardens in the country with 40 permanent art installations and several other temporary pieces.

We had a fabulous morning tour with Jessica. She was very knowledgeable and helped us to not only navigate the city, but also showed us unique aspects of Minneapolis that we would have never seen nor found! Highly recommend!
