Today, my husband and I took the extended backcountry tour with our Navajo guide, Larry. We took the 08:30 tour because it was cooler, it gets very hot as the day progresses. Larry was warm, friendly, and passionate with an exceptional knowledge about the history of the valley, his ancestors, and their culture. He was also a great navigator through the rocky terrain. The tour was a wonderful history lesson, we both learnt so much. Larry took us to some wonderful viewpoints not seen by the general public, and each had its own story. We have a wonderful photo collection, including a very special one taken by him. Larry played the flute, a particular highlight of mine. It’s a day neither of us will ever forget! Thank you, Larry!!

My wife and I booked a private tour of the back country in a suv with Monument Valley Tribal Tours. I called and discussed options as I have a disability. They were great in helping to design a tour that would meet my needs and still see everything I desired. I was impressed with the thoroughness of explaining what our tour would include. Tour guide Bruce met us right on time. He explained what we would see and do. His knowledge of the geology and history is outstanding. Explaining the significance of each location and feature along the tour. If I couldn’t see what Bruce was pointing out he would either reposition the suv or take the time to direct my eyes so I could see it. We were never rushed. Bruce answered all of our questions. His demonstration of how the formations were formed was beyond amazing. The way he explained the meaning of the Petroglyphs left us truly understanding the meaning. Bruce’s performance was personal and beautiful. I cannot understate how wonderful this tour was. I highly recommend Monument Valley Tribal Tours. And if you are booking a tour I highly recommend them. Ask for Bruce. We will never forget this tour. I just wish I could sit with Bruce and listen to his stories. My only regret is that my wife and I didn’t take a picture with Bruce and us together. But we will never forget him. Many Blessings Bruce!

The scenery is beautiful but the tour was made even better by our guide Larry Team. He was outstanding explaining not only the scenery but also very interesting information about the history of monument valley and the Navajos.
