My 11 daughter and I did the Extended Backcountry tour on Thursday, December 19, 2019, with Marjorie Gray. She was our Navajo guide for the 3 hour trip that took us into areas of Monument Valley that are typically off limits without a guide. Marjorie was so informative and kind and allowed plenty of time for us to explore and take pictures of all the beautifully stunning rock formations and buttes that make up the back country. She shared a lot about the Navajo people and their culture as well as the Anasazi, who are their ancient ancestors. My daughter, who is normally not very attentive, was very engaged the entire trip. We stopped at a hogan, which is a traditional Navajo dwelling, and learned from Effie, how the Navajo make wool. We explored many of the back country monuments. I have BEAUTIFUL photographs that I have shared with my friends and everyone is so impressed with the beauty that is Monument Valley. I had a wonderful visit to the Valley, but it would not have been the same had I just decided to drive the 17 mile scenic route and not taken the trip with Marjorie. She was a real blessing. If you aren’t sure about spending money to do a tribal tour, trust me! It is worth every penny! It was such an amazing day. Thank you Marjorie Gray and Tribal Tours!

We had a wonderful time on our tour! Our guide was Larry and was outstanding! He told us many stories about the Navajo history and culture and we learned a lot. He answered all of our questions and even gave pointers on how to get the best pictures. I would recommend this tour to anybody visiting Monument Valley.
