Fort Hays Old West Town and Dinner Show

The tour package starts at Fort Hays Chuckwagon where you get your all you can eat cowboy breakfast. Nothing better than home made cowboy pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage links with a hot cup of coffee to get the day started.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial

The bus departs at 9am and heads for Mount Rushmore! You will have a little over an hour to look around at your own convenience and enjoy the sites and beauty that you came to South Dakota for. We stop here first because Mount Rushmore is at it's best in the morning sun. Gutzon Borglum carved this mountain facing east towards the morning sun and intended it to be viewed this way.

Iron Mountain Road

After leaving Mount Rushmore we will travel along the Iron Mountain Road. A beautiful 17 mile road of breath taking scenery featuring 3 one lane tunnels that perfectly frame Mount Rushmore.

Custer State Park Resort

We stop for lunch inside Custer State Park at the Game Lodge and previous summer White House for president Calvin Coolidge. Try the Buffalo Stew, it's the best you will ever find!

Needles Highway

After lunch we depart for the Needles Hwy. This 14 mile scenic drive is sure to leave you breathless and awe struck at amazing beauty of the Black Hills. Sit back and enjoy the ride and watch the crowd gather around when we drive the bus through the Needles Eye Tunnel. With only inches to spare on each side of the bus you can relish in the fact that you are not the one driving.

Sylvan Lake

Take a rest stop and coffee break at the beautiful Sylvan Lake. This is among the crown jewels of Custer State Park and the beauty within it.

Crazy Horse Memorial

We spend about an hour at Crazy Horse Memorial. You are on your own to spend this time enjoying this piece of history in the making. Upon completion it will be the largest mountain carving in the world! Truly a piece of awe inspiring history being worked on every day.

Fort Hays Old West Town and Dinner Show

The tour package ends back at Fort Hays to include the Chuckwagon Supper and Live Music Show. This chuckwagon meal is sure to leave you with a full belly. The show is a Branson style variety show to include music for all ages to enjoy. Rate the best family entertainment in the Black Hills.

Fort Hays Old West Town et dîner-spectacle

Le voyage organisé commence à Fort Hays Chuckwagon où vous obtenez votre petit-déjeuner de cow-boy à volonté. Rien de mieux que des pancakes de cow-boy faits maison, des biscuits et de la sauce, des liens de saucisse avec une tasse de café chaud pour bien commencer la journée.

Mémorial national du mont Rushmore

Le bus part à 9h et se dirige vers le Mont Rushmore ! Vous aurez un peu plus d'une heure pour regarder autour de vous à votre convenance et profiter des sites et de la beauté pour lesquels vous êtes venu dans le Dakota du Sud. Nous nous arrêtons d'abord ici car le mont Rushmore est à son meilleur au soleil du matin. Gutzon Borglum a sculpté cette montagne face à l'est vers le soleil du matin et l'a destinée à être vue de cette façon.

Route de la montagne de fer

Après avoir quitté le mont Rushmore, nous emprunterons l'Iron Mountain Road. Une belle route de 17 miles de paysages à couper le souffle avec 3 tunnels à une voie qui encadrent parfaitement le mont Rushmore.

Parc d'État de Custer Resort

Nous nous arrêtons pour déjeuner à l'intérieur du Custer State Park au Game Lodge et à la Maison Blanche de l'été précédent pour le président Calvin Coolidge. Essayez le Buffalo Stew, c'est le meilleur que vous trouverez jamais !

Autoroute des Aiguilles

Après le déjeuner, nous partons pour la Needles Hwy. Cette route panoramique de 14 miles vous coupera le souffle et vous émerveillera devant la beauté incroyable des Black Hills. Asseyez-vous et profitez du trajet et regardez la foule se rassembler lorsque nous conduisons le bus à travers le tunnel Needles Eye. Avec seulement quelques centimètres à perdre de chaque côté du bus, vous pouvez apprécier le fait que vous n'êtes pas celui qui conduit.

Lac Sylvain

Faites une halte et une pause-café au magnifique lac Sylvan. C'est l'un des joyaux de la couronne du parc d'État de Custer et de la beauté qu'il contient.

Mémorial du cheval fou

Nous passons environ une heure au Crazy Horse Memorial. Vous êtes seul pour passer ce temps à profiter de ce morceau d'histoire en devenir. Une fois terminé, ce sera la plus grande sculpture de montagne au monde ! Vraiment un morceau d'histoire inspirante sur laquelle on travaille tous les jours.

Fort Hays Old West Town et dîner-spectacle

Le voyage organisé se termine à Fort Hays pour inclure le souper Chuckwagon et le spectacle de musique en direct. Ce repas de chariot est sûr de vous laisser le ventre plein. Great overview of the area. Our driver Ken was terrific. He knows lots of history, anecdotes about the area and corny jokes. The breakfast and lunch were ok but the musical entertainment after was excellent. A good variety of genres

Dear Reviewer, Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to compliment our driver Ken (and his corny jokes lol!). With the Needles Highway (specifically speaking, The Eye of the Needles Tunnel) we've found that humor eases the tension that can (at times) be felt when one is being maneuvered through such a strange, unbelievably unique roadway. We're sorry that you found the breakfast and lunch slightly subpar but want to assure you that (due to honest reviewers like yourself) we've been working on ways to "up the ante" on those portions specifically, as well as all of our attractions, so that we can be the BEST Chuckwagon Supper & Show possible! Thank you again and we sincerely hope that if you ever get a chance to return to the area, we'll have the honor of hosting you once more!

We had a great time. Breakfast was fine and a nice way to meet others on the tour. The starting location which had buildings and memorabilia from Dancing With Wolves which was interesting to look through. Our tour guide was great. I wish I could remember his name. We liked the fact that we were driven, learned about the sites we visited, had enough time at each site, and were comfortable in the bus. I loved Needles Highway, so cool. Crazy Horse was really interesting. To get to the site from the visitors center we took a $4 bus ride per school bus. That made sense since we were transported into a construction area. The bus driver, can’t remember his name, but he was from Arkansas, was interesting and fun. Dinner was really good, served in a chow line, pie plates, and on very long picnic tables. We were able to meet more people and enjoyed this. It would have been harder to interact if we did this trip by ourselves in our car. The end of the day was the music. It really was great. There was a lot of talent on the stage which I didn’t expect from a day trip bus tour. You need to plan on staying for the music after the dinner. You shouldn’t miss it! And, no we are not related to anyone connected to this tour. We found the tour on TripAdvisor, pulled out the Visa, and showed up. Wonderful day for us.

Dearest Reviewer, I know, for a fact, that I speak for ALL of us here at Fort Hays Chuckwagon & Stage Coast West, when I say, "Wow! Thank you SO, SO MUCH!" What a review! We are absolutely flattered by your comments and so happy that you found (as I personally have) that when people are brought together (kind of... taken a little out of their comfort zone) via the long picnic tables, it creates a communicable experience throughout the entire day. You're one great big team on trail blazing adventure, discovering, just like the pioneers, before finishing off the day with an authentic meal, music, dancing and sincere celebration of our beautiful Black Hills. You summed up PERFECTLY the precise experience that we want to provide to ALL our guests and I just want to say thank you SO much and what an honor it is to host wonderful folks like yourself.

Our guide, Rory, was wonderful, very personable and knowledgeable. Rory put in extra effort to find wildlife, which we appreciated. The sight and views were extraordinary! The evening meal was much better than expected and the filling show wonderful, especially the violinist. There are two reasons for the 4 rating vs. the 5 rating. One, the breakfast was awful. The sausage gravy was lukewarm and best and had very little meat in it. The pancakes were very tough and hard to cut. Secondly, the seats on the bus were quite uncomfortable. They tip back which makes you feel like you might slide right off, plus they are quite narrow.
