Fort Hays Old West Town and Dinner Show

The tour package starts at Fort Hays Chuckwagon where you get your all you can eat cowboy breakfast. Nothing better than home made cowboy pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage links with a hot cup of coffee to get the day started.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial

The bus departs at 9am and heads for Mount Rushmore! You will have a little over an hour to look around at your own convenience and enjoy the sites and beauty that you came to South Dakota for. We stop here first because Mount Rushmore is at it's best in the morning sun. Gutzon Borglum carved this mountain facing east towards the morning sun and intended it to be viewed this way.

Iron Mountain Road

After leaving Mount Rushmore we will travel along the Iron Mountain Road. A beautiful 17 mile road of breath taking scenery featuring 3 one lane tunnels that perfectly frame Mount Rushmore.

Custer State Park Resort

We stop for lunch inside Custer State Park at the Game Lodge and previous summer White House for president Calvin Coolidge. Try the Buffalo Stew, it's the best you will ever find!

Needles Highway

After lunch we depart for the Needles Hwy. This 14 mile scenic drive is sure to leave you breathless and awe struck at amazing beauty of the Black Hills. Sit back and enjoy the ride and watch the crowd gather around when we drive the bus through the Needles Eye Tunnel. With only inches to spare on each side of the bus you can relish in the fact that you are not the one driving.

Sylvan Lake

Take a rest stop and coffee break at the beautiful Sylvan Lake. This is among the crown jewels of Custer State Park and the beauty within it.

Crazy Horse Memorial

We spend about an hour at Crazy Horse Memorial. You are on your own to spend this time enjoying this piece of history in the making. Upon completion it will be the largest mountain carving in the world! Truly a piece of awe inspiring history being worked on every day.

Fort Hays Old West Town and Dinner Show

The tour package ends back at Fort Hays to include the Chuckwagon Supper and Live Music Show. This chuckwagon meal is sure to leave you with a full belly. The show is a Branson style variety show to include music for all ages to enjoy. Rate the best family entertainment in the Black Hills.

Fort Hays Old West Town et dîner-spectacle

Le voyage organisé commence à Fort Hays Chuckwagon où vous obtenez votre petit-déjeuner de cow-boy à volonté. Rien de mieux que des pancakes de cow-boy faits maison, des biscuits et de la sauce, des liens de saucisse avec une tasse de café chaud pour bien commencer la journée.

Mémorial national du mont Rushmore

Le bus part à 9h et se dirige vers le Mont Rushmore ! Vous aurez un peu plus d'une heure pour regarder autour de vous à votre convenance et profiter des sites et de la beauté pour lesquels vous êtes venu dans le Dakota du Sud. Nous nous arrêtons d'abord ici car le mont Rushmore est à son meilleur au soleil du matin. Gutzon Borglum a sculpté cette montagne face à l'est vers le soleil du matin et l'a destinée à être vue de cette façon.

Route de la montagne de fer

Après avoir quitté le mont Rushmore, nous emprunterons l'Iron Mountain Road. Une belle route de 17 miles de paysages à couper le souffle avec 3 tunnels à une voie qui encadrent parfaitement le mont Rushmore.

Parc d'État de Custer Resort

Nous nous arrêtons pour déjeuner à l'intérieur du Custer State Park au Game Lodge et à la Maison Blanche de l'été précédent pour le président Calvin Coolidge. Essayez le Buffalo Stew, c'est le meilleur que vous trouverez jamais !

Autoroute des Aiguilles

Après le déjeuner, nous partons pour la Needles Hwy. Cette route panoramique de 14 miles vous coupera le souffle et vous émerveillera devant la beauté incroyable des Black Hills. Asseyez-vous et profitez du trajet et regardez la foule se rassembler lorsque nous conduisons le bus à travers le tunnel Needles Eye. Avec seulement quelques centimètres à perdre de chaque côté du bus, vous pouvez apprécier le fait que vous n'êtes pas celui qui conduit.

Lac Sylvain

Faites une halte et une pause-café au magnifique lac Sylvan. C'est l'un des joyaux de la couronne du parc d'État de Custer et de la beauté qu'il contient.

Mémorial du cheval fou

Nous passons environ une heure au Crazy Horse Memorial. Vous êtes seul pour passer ce temps à profiter de ce morceau d'histoire en devenir. Une fois terminé, ce sera la plus grande sculpture de montagne au monde ! Vraiment un morceau d'histoire inspirante sur laquelle on travaille tous les jours.

Le voyage organisé se termine à Fort Hays pour inclure le souper Chuckwagon et le spectacle de musique en direct. Ce repas de chariot est sûr de vous laisser le ventre plein. We stayed in Rapid City the night before taking this tour and again the evening after taking the tour. There is so much to do with Rapid City as a base thas this turned out to be a great idea. The full day tour started at 9 Am but they begon serving breakfast at 7:30 AM - all you can eat pancakes, plus they had sausage, biscuits, juice, coffe as I recall. It was ok - the best part was actually ther older gentleman who played live tunes on the player piano - that really was so nice! We had already had a bite of breakfast at our hotel to be honest, so we were not all that hungry. When you artive in the AM, go and sign in and confirm your tickets because they will have you board your bus based on the order you sign in. And they had 3 buses leaving on a tour the morning we went - although I am not certain if all wefre taking the same tour. They told us to be ready to board the bus earlier than 9 am asnd sure enough we started boarded a little after 8:30 AM and actually left to begin the tour early at 8:45 AM because everyone was onboard. That was good because it is cooler earlier. The bus itself was new in 20124 and still had that "new car" kind of small - very, very clean. The tour guide driver we had was Matt P snd I highly re ommend him. He used a headset microphone and was easily heard. He knew the area well and was also entertaining and educational without getting corny. SInce we got on the road a little early, he took the time to drive past many of the attractions I Rapid City and gave a little info and history on them - like the reptils gardcens - snd oh! at Beasr City as we passed he pointed out the baby bear cubs who were still up in the tree that morning. Even though we were on a road trip and had oour car available, it was well worth it to have someone else drive on the winding roads and through the various tunnels and pigtail bridges.. He also gave good tips on how to best use our time to get the most out of our visit to site - especially Mount Rushmore. Much appreciated. Excellent value and we saw much more in this one day tour, and without stress, than if we had tried to see all those sites independently in a day. Plus, the price of the tour gave us admission to Mount Rushmore etc - which makes the value of the tour even better. For example we had a nice lunch stop at the historic State Game Lodge, the presidential summer White House for former president Calvin Coolidge - great buffet or you could order a la carte. After the tour we browsed a bit in Fort Hays, although there is not that much there. Here is a tip - they purchased the movie set of the movie "Dances With Wolvers" and have it there - so maybe look at that movie ahead of time and plan some snapshots! Then we stayed for the separate Chuckwagon Dinner & Cowboy Music SHow that evening - which started at 6:30 PM. I hsvr e reviewed that seperately

This was our first time to the Black Hills area, specifically Mt Rushmore. We saw the Mt Rushmore Tours from our online search and from the South Dakota tour book received by mail. We were not disappointed with the 9-hour bus tour which included, breakfast to start, dinner and a musical show, after returning. Matt, our driver, was very professional and knowledgeable, very informative about the local history and trivia of the region, an expert, driving the highways and maneuvering the mountain tunnels, that made the whole day, fun. The two meals offered, and the evening show culminated into a wonderful, fun-filled day. We highly recommend this tour.

Originally booked 1880's train tour, but did not get clear directions that the train runs from Hill City, so we switched to the bus tour. This ended up great, thanks in large part to our tour bus driver Dan who was informative and very entertaining. Tour included Mt Rushmore, the Black Hills and Crazy Horse. Covered about 9AM to 5PM, bus was comfortable and Dan was great!!
