This is the best way to see the sights in the Black Hills. What a packed, fun-filled day we had starting out with a cowboy breakfast. Stops included Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Sylvan Lake with our entertaining bus driver/guide Pastor Bill Martin. He was as personable and engaging as anyone I’ve been on a tour with. He navigated tight curves and narrow tunnels with ease while regaling us with information on the sights and tales of the region. We opted into the buffet lunch which was outstanding. I don’t recommend this - not for the quality which was outstanding, but rather because you won’t have room for the dinner. My suggestion is NOT to do the lunch. If you have the hearty breakfast, you’ll not need anything at lunch except an ice cream or small snack to hold you over. The dinner took place right before the show. They have a terrific chow line system where you’ll get a baked potato, beans, apple sauce, your choice of brisket or chicken, a biscuit and spice cake. We were so stuffed from lunch we could barely eat a bite. We did the best we could, but made a brisket biscuit from the leftovers and wrapped up the cake for the next day. After an amazing day sightseeing, we didn’t realize that the highlight of the day was yet to come. The Rockin’ Wranglers took the stage and put on a FANTASTIC show with a variety of songs from Elvis to Willie Nelson, to Charlie Daniels. We were signing along and clapping and having a blast. We felt so uplifted that we floated back to the hotel on a Black Hills high.
