I live in Arizona. I booked and paid online on June 19 for a tour of the studio on July 7 when I would be passing through Muscle Shoals on an extensive road trip. I was deliberately stopping in Muscle Shoals just to take this tour. When I arrived on July 6, I checked online that everything I was planning to see was still open as things have been sketchy due to Covid. The website said they were temporarily closed with no further information. I went on the Fame Studios tour and learned from someone else there that it was true that Muscle Shoals Sound Studio was closed. Interesting that they did not bother to notify the people who had paid for the tour. Very surprising and disrespectful. After visiting Fame, I drove over to the studio to see if any further information was posted on the door. Nope. Met another music fan there who had this place on his bucket list. He had traveled from Indianapolis to visit the studio. He was just as disappointed as I was. Upon returning to my hotel, I used the Contact Us form to ask if they would be open on July 21 as I was going to be traveling back through Alabama on that date and could rearrange my plans. It was really important to me to take the tour as I likely will not be in Alabama ever again. I never received a response. On July 7, the day of my tour, I was not notified until two hours before the tour per email from Ana Megan Hyde that the studio was closed due to an electrical issue and they refunded my money. I responded to her email thanking her for the refund and again asked if they thought they would be open on July 21. Again, I received no response whatsoever. I understand that they are a working recording studio and dealing with artists is a much higher priority than giving tours. However, not having the decency to reply to a legitimate question from someone who paid for a tour is really uncalled for. If this is how they treat visitors, then I am glad I did not get to take the tour or waste money on a donation. Upon looking at their website now, it says they are open again. Don't bother.

OMG! What a great tour of this iconic studio. The tour guide was fantastic! Funny, very knowledgeable, informative with an inside account of The Swampers, past musicians, music, lets just say he knew everything that had to do with the past and current events about this studio. My friend that came with me said he had “chills down his spine”during the tour. This tour is not to be missed if you are a music lover ! 😁
