National Corvette Museum
The National Corvette Museum is a showcase to America's sports car.  Start your tour with a short film about the history of the Corvette and the Corvette Museum.  As you walk though the museum you'll see exhibits featuring over 70 Corvettes in periodic settings including a mid-century barbershop, service station and dealership.  You'll see Corvette prototypes, one-of-kind cars, and racing champs.  Enjoy hands-on activities in KidZone , trivia kiosks, and the "Corvette Cave In” exhibit.  This exhibit takes visitors back to the early morning hours of February 12, 2014 when the earth opened up inside the Museum’s Skydome, swallowing the classic Corvettes.  The Museum's Skydome offers a glimpse of the size and depth of the sinkhole as well as the retrieved Corvettes. Guests are also invited to try a Corvette on for size in the lobby. The Corvette Store offers apparel, collectibles, home and gift items.  An on-site 50's-inspired Corvette Cafe serves breakfast, lunch and snacks.

My family & I visited on July 18th in the afternoon. The museum itself is interesting-especially if you a car buff. However, a significant number of visitors were not wearing masks or maintaining proper social distancing. No enforcement of the Governor's mandate. I even saw non-masked visitors conversing with the staff face-to-face!

Hi chibearbob, In Kentucky, masks are not required in all businesses as long as you can socially distance your family from other families/visitors. Sometimes people forget to maintain the 6' distance so we do regularly remind them. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We have reminded our staff of this.

This is a wonderful place if one is a Vette person; otherwise, it is good. The really quality aspect of this exhibit was the explanation of the sinkhole that occurred in July of 2014. Very interesting as I remember the day it had occurred. However, my reason for visiting was the the Ed "Big Daddy" Roth exhibit that ends in 2020, although it may be carried over. I thoroughly enjoyed this as I was a fan of Rat Finks in the very early 60's. Several of Ed Roth's cars were showcased.

Closer to good than very unless you are a true Corvette fan and thrill to the site of limited production vettes (by option count) and those that raced. Not so many street examples. The life-sized vignettes are especially well done, and the sinkhole history sheds light (poor pun) on that incident. Especially graphic illustration of what happens to a car falling 30 feet when you see those that could not be rebuilt. If you are a hard core fan of the marque, long to know more about Duntov, etc., this is a treasure trove. If you are simply interested in old cars - or even stock examples - in general, then it's a bit too specialized. Kudos however for having purchased the vault Corvette, the story of which I'd followed through SIA back in the day.

Hi Scott, Thanks for visiting and for the feedback. While most Corvettes do seem like race cars, the majority of the cars on display are not. The two areas where race cars are featured are in the E. Pierce Marshall Memorial Performance Gallery, and then there are a few Pace Cars in the Skydome. The rest, and majority of our cars, are street cars, with a few prototypes sprinkled in. We are glad you enjoyed the 'entombed' Corvette exhibit and are fortunate that some enthusiasts decided to donate it to us! It's a very cool story.
