This neighborhood and its cemetery tells the story of New Orleans from the Louisiana Purchase to the Civil War. The tour guide was great! She provided a lot of background and detail on different houses and architural styles. She also explained the reasoning behind the cemetery structures.

Thank you for this wonderful review! The Garden District’s main feature is, of course, its architecture. However, the stories make it more meaningful, and the glimpse inside the cemetery makes it quite interesting! We had James as our guide and he was a real hoot! Kept my brother and I laughing throughout the tour. Besides the comedy, we learned a lot about the houses and development of the area as well as receive a crash course in New Orleans residental architecture and burial practices. Also saw some of the houses of the rich and famous, including "Sandy's" house. Overall a pleasant stroll and learning experience.

I took this tour on my own and had a great time! We were a small group of 6 and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Renee is a well traveled local with loads of knowledge and interesting stories. It was the perfect length and distance for a tour with a great combination of history, architecture, and local flavor.
