Soaking in the Hotspring, under the stars in Alaska was an experience worth doing! Susi our guide was great and we even saw a moose on the way back. The aurora lights were still faint but we did got the glimpse of it

We booked Northern Lights & Chena Hot Springs for 3. $195/person. The overall experience is not so great. We decided to drive instead of getting picked up by bus. We went check in at front desk 6:15pm, they told us to go to the activity center. We went to activity center, the guy there said there is no need to check in right now, you can go eat dinner, enjoy your hot spring and come back at 10pm to go see the northern light. We went to the restaurant, they say 40 minutes wait time. While waiting, I talked to the front desk again, she looked up my booking number, and said the tour is starting soon, your tour guide will be at the activity center. But we just came back from there few minutes ago. Anyway, we went back, met a lady to be our tour guide and told us the 'Ice Museum' tour starts in 5 minutes, at 7pm. we got a hanging tag for the ice museum tour and hot spring entrance. We did the ice museum tour, came out, ate dinner (good food/expensive), went to hot spring, and met the tour guide lady in the waiting room, exchanged greetings and she left. Around 10 pm, a big group of tourists came out, getting on buses and left. We freak out, ran around everywhere and could not find our tour guide. We asked the front desk and the visitor center, two different people are in the visitor center at this time, looked into the computer and could not find our reservation (they looked up by name and booking number). then told us your reservation does not include the tour to view the northern lights. There was another tour guide there was super nice to help us run around the whole place to look for our tour guide lady and still could not find her. But he told us to wait for her, her tour and his are very similar, they should depart for the northern lights at midnight. At that time, I realized this tour are not related to the Chena hot springs but from a third party. those staff in Chena hot springs had no idea what is going on and kept giving out false information. We almost go home because they said what we have paid for did not include the northern lights and we could not find our tour guide for over half an hour. Then, I talked another couple who are in the same tour, they took the bus up from Fairbanks. They told me the tour guide had never given any detail of the tour during the entire drive (~1h30') and they also have been looking for her a while now. At 10:55pm, we decided to go home, more people came out to the bus and said just met the tour guide, we would depart to see northern light at 11:10pm. So we waited, she guided us to walk about 15 minutes up to a viewing place. We stayed there maybe 40minutes, could not see the light and tour ended. The tour was super unorganized, the Chena Hot springs staff mislead tourists, it was unpleasant. The tour guide should have some proper training. She should at least tell the tourists what is coming next, where/when to meet or where to find her if needed. Not recommended.

It was a fun experience since our tour guide Susi made sure we enjoyed it. She shared quite a number of stories as we drove thru the place and she tried her best for us to hunt down the Aurora.
