A very warm, probably the nicest guy you'll ever meet, will come pick you up from your hotel. Our driver Bob, was extremely courteous, he even brought a small stool for us to get off and on the van. The van is of medium size, about 8 to 10 seater. However Bob told us they usually only have 5 to 6 people on one tour giving everyone plenty of room and a window seat. After we picked up all the passengers, five in our case, we started driving towards Murphy dome. We stopped and parked along the road about a mile before the Murphy dome. Bob stepped out to look if it was a good spot, he came back excited and told us to come out and watch. We stayed at the spot for about 80% of our time. The views from there were truly amazing. We saw dark green mixed with occasional red aurora lights. We saw new flares form and no pictures can define what that looks like. A little heads up though, it does get pretty cold and you will need proper gear (ProTip: I learned later that some places actually rent gear on a per day basis. They deliver it to your hotel.) You'd probably need to hop in and out of the van a lot if you aren't prepared. However, don't worry that you'd miss out anything, if any bright flares came up whilst we were warming up in the van, Bob would come and inform us so we could hop out again and view the lights. After sometime we decided to move from that spot and Bob offered us hand warmers, can't even express how helpful those were (ProTip: There's toe warmers that you can stick to your socks). After that we stopped at the top of the Murphy Dome however it was super cold and windy and nobody was willing to get off from the Van there. So Bob took us to a third spot and parked in a way that we could watch the lights from within the van. He also made hot-chocolate for us and offered tea/coffee too. Bob was willing to stay there as long as we wanted and frequently checked-in on everyone, asking how we were doing. After everyone was pretty tired and wanted to head back we were on our way home and dozed off on the ride back.
Oh and we did have a little additional adventure on our tour. When we reached the top of the Murphy dome, Bob noticed that a couple's car was stuck in snow and tried helping them. However they told Bob that they had a tow truck coming so we didn't do much then. When we were ready to head home, bob drove back to the top of the Murphy dome to check upon the people who were stuck since we didn't see any tow trucks pass. We all pushed the car back and forth but unfortunately couldn't get them out. Bob even reached out to other people who were parked at the top of the Murphy Dome and informed them of the couple who were stuck and only then left from the spot. We eventually saw the tow truck pass when we were driving back home.
