PLEASE NOTE that visibility of the northern lights (aurora) is not guaranteed. It is a natural phenomenon we have no control over and no refunds will be given if the aurora cannot be seen.

The road to Murphy Dome is steep and if it is not plowed or is too icy and dangerous we will take customers to an alternative location that provides the same opportunity to see the aurora.

My husband and I traveled to Alaska for our first wedding anniversary at the end of September. It has always been on my bucket list to see the northern lights. We were flying into Fairbanks so I looked for tours within that area. Alaska Wildlife Guide received great reviews and now I know why! Bob was our tour guide. I highly recommend requesting him for your tour if you can! It was such a cloudy night at the beginning - it wasn't looking like we'd be lucky enough to see the lights this time. Because Bob was so patient and persistent, we not only saw the lights once but at least three separate times - each time, better than the last!!! It was a long night (we didn't home until about 4am) but it was worth every single minute!

We did a tour with Bob, he was great! He made sure we got to see the lights even though it was cloudy night. He was dedicated and very enthusiastic. Made everyone feel comfortable and was just a happy person. He knew some hot spots where the lights were the brightest! Highly recommended!!

Seeing the Northern Lights is a one in three chance. The night we went out was misty and overcast so our hopes were not high, but our guide, Ken, made the best of the situation. He remained positive that although we may not see the brilliant sky that you see in pictures, we would see something. And he was right! We saw moon dogs, glow around the moon, a fox, and through his time lapsed camera, we did see the the green glow of the Aurora Borealis. Ken had coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks available, and kept the van running, giving us a place to warm up between sightings. Before we returned to town, he sent us the better time lapsed photos from his camera, as well as some photos he had taken on another night under clear skies, with the beautiful vibrant colors. Ken was full of information about the area, Alaska, and shared some his personal experiences, meeting a moose, helping with the wild fire brigade, and other tours he led. Both my 24 year old son and I had a great time. When viewing the Northern Lights, you hope for the best, but always expect to see something spectacular!
