I've done many snorkel cruises throughout the Hawai'ian islands and will say that this crew is the friendliest, nicest, fun group I've gone with. The Kai Oli'Oli is a very well maintained catamaran. The company offers free shuttle service from Waikiki hotels, so that's a nice feature, but you may just want to drive there and explore Ko Olina when you are done. The food served was very tasty - kaula pulled pork on a bun (if you want), chicken, macaroni salad with purple potatoes. We saw a few pods of spinner dolphins and turtles. The ship was careful to be respectful of these creatures, which pleased me greatly. The crew were very alert at all times and attentive. One passenger lost his cap into the water and the Captain turn the ship around and vetched it for him. As a solo passenger, I'm used to being ignored or overlooked most of the time, but not this trip. Members of the crew made sure to engage me (although I'm not a shy person and usually chat with everyone). The snorkel spot we stopped at wasn't the top of the list of great snorkel areas I've done, but it was enjoyable enough and gave you plenty of fish to see, and even a turtle. They have a photographer on board that goes around snapping various pictures of everyone, and even goes into the water to get photos of you snorkel and makes available this collection of photos at the end of the cruise on a DVD (for $40...a little steep in my opinion but not exorbitantly so for Hawai'i). The price may seem high ($144 as of 6/2013), but you may get it less (I did). This includes the shuttle from Waikiki, your gear, free drinks (including alcoholic beverages) and the AMPLE buffet. So, yes I would definitelyrecommend this adventure, if only because of the staff!

What a great experience! This cruise was wonderful, or should I say, this crew was wonderful. It all started with your manager Carla, she is full of aloha and has a welcoming smile. Capt. Jerry had a lot of interesting facts about the area. Mani, Flo, Kainoa, and Cash were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were safe and enjoyed ourselves. I've been on similar tours here on Oahu and elsewhere, but by far this was the best, because of them. We got to see dolphins jumping and playing from the deck of a magnificent boat, Kai oli oli (it means ocean joy in hawaiian, which is cool because that's the name of the company). Then we went snorkeling and saw two green sea turtles and many colorful fish. After snorkeling we had a tasty lunch of pulled pork, BBQ chicken, steamed rice and some fresh fruit, along with some excellent blue hawaii cocktails (yummy). On our way back we saw even more dolphins as my entire family sat out on the front deck enjoying the sun and the occasional refreshing splash of the ocean. We had so much fun! Thank you all so much for making this such a memorable trip for us, something we can look back on and smile about :)

This is a great half-day out. It's an early start if you are picked up from your Waikiki hotel - around 6.30 am. But then your bus takes you out to Ko Olina marina to Ocean Joy to get your catamaran vessel. On board you get a safety briefing and then get underway. The cruiser is roomy - plenty of room for all 60 of us - there is snorkelling available if you want it too. We cruised up the west coast of Oahu and the scenery is stunning. The skipper gives a commentary of the points of interest along the way. The day was beautiful and sea is so green and clear, it's just wonderful. Whenever the skipper saw dolphins he would pull up so that we could see them and he would let the dolphins approach the vessel naturally, so they didn't get spooked. We saw two or three groups of dolphins. We reached the snorkelling point and there is another safety briefing when the equipment is handed out. Snorkelling is for about an hour, then a buffet is served. We then headed back to Ko Olina - a swell had risen by this time so the trip back got a little bumpy, you will need to be awareof that. On the way back we also saw a humpback whale which breached and flew out of the water a couple of times - totally awesome! The skipper and crew were always aware of their passengers' safety and we had constant reminders about safe behaviour and safety tips - they were marvellous. Overall this is a great trip. The cruise itself is around 3.5 hours and then the journey back to Waikiki is another hour or so.
