This was the most amazing experience of my life! They picked us up from our hotel at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in a very nice can and took us up to the North Shore. We hopped on the boat and it took about 15 minutes to get to the cage. Apparently the sharks are attracted to the sound of the deisel engines because crab fisherman throw scraps into the water that the sharks eat. Immediately upon arriving at the cage, sharks swarmed the boat. They pull the boat up to the cage, which has a ladder and we hopped right in, after they provided us with a snorkel and mask. There were two groups and each group had about 30 minutes each in the cage. It was truly an unbelievable experience. There were 8 sharks around us at any given point and if they started to leave, they’d start the engine back up to get them to come back. The sharks didn’t pay any attention to us whatsoever. They just swam around looking for scraps. It was very evident that were not on the menu. It just goes to show that Hollywood and the media has made them out to be monsters and man eaters and they’re simply not. There were sharks up to 12 feet all around us. Honestly this is the coolest and most life changing experience that I’ve ever had. I very highly recommend it. If you’re scared, push yourself to work through it. It’s totally worth it!!!
