Our family of six made the trek from Texas to the PNW with one of the main reasons to see some whales. Within an hour of our expedition, Captain Paul had us on a pod of five Orcas that we got to watch for about another hour. The deckmate, Sarah, was such a kind and friendly person to share the experience with as she shared lots of information about the islands, wildlife, etc. We were also able to see Dall Porpoises, Harbour Porpoises, Harbour Seals, a Bald Eagle, Oyster Catchers, just to name a few. Another bonus was seeing the Lime Kiln Lighthouse. The waters were mostly calm and enjoyable for travel. A great family experience and a recommendation to go with Outer Island.

We had an amazing tour! Captain Dylan and naturalist Sara were amazing! We got to see two type of whales! Orca and humpback! Sara was super awesome to answer any questions anyone on the tour had and clearly has a passion for the wildlife! The boat ride was perfect and not once did we feel sick or unsafe! In addition to the whales we got to see harbor porpoises and harbor seals! As well as half a dozen bald eagles! We definitely recommend Outer Island for your whale watching tour!

I was staying on Lopez Island and so I booked a trip from their Lopez location. (A side note, I was in the San Juan's with my 5 year old daughter and 4.5 year old niece and hubs. he arranged this as a birthday present. We didn't think the kiddos would enjoy so I went solo while he took them to the park. They would have been far too young to really like this.) I received a call two days before the trip and they let me know that there were not enough reservations for the Lopez island trip and asked if I could join a trip from Orcas Island. They stated they would credit the ferry ride and they even gave me the number of the taxi service for Orcas Island. Perfect service. I arrived two days later, seamless check in and then off we went. The naturalist was really informative. I stayed in the front of the boat outside and so she rotated from inside the cabin to those of us outside, letting us know all kinds of great information about the San Juan's and the wildlife. Our destination was a transient pod of orca whales. It was really cool. We kept a safe distance and got to watch the whales hunt in a bay. Then we followed (safely) as they moved out to see. What incredible creatures. We also go to see some harbor seals and some HUUGE stellar sea lions. Between the service, the comfort of the boat, and the sea life this was a fantastic trip. I highly recommend them.
