What a fun trip! This is NOT a zoo. This generous area is a sanctuary for large animals to help recreate an African Safari, educate the public, and provide refuge and breeding to a variety of threatened animals. Their landscape is very well designed and thoughtful of the animals. Their habitats are large, the animals were healthy, and it was super fun to interact with them! Equally, all the staff were ALL super friendly, knowledgeable, and funny!
Highlights: Mog Safari Tour is well worth the extra $20 additional GA tic, because they actually educate us on important facts about the animals and gives direction to the overall atmosphere. Plus, you get to feed a giraffe from your hand and includes a Tiger Feed (not from your hand)! I recommend sitting toward the front of the cab so you can hear the guide. It is a covered jeep/vehicle, which provides adequate shade, and mimics a real African Safari! Reminder: tip jug is located on the Mog Jeep. We did the 11 AM tour, which felt like excellent timing on Memorial Day in AZ, and left plenty of time to experience the other activities on premise. The tour ended at the top of the park, closely located to lunch options and the Tiger Splash show that follows after, additional shows and exhibits, and is an easy walk down towards the exit of the park.
Lunch: Pleasantly surprised at the quality and price of the food stands. They offered pulled pork, chicken salad, corn dogs, pizza, ham sandwiches, ice cream, etc, amongst other options that were obviously homemade, large portions, and under $10 for a “meal” including a 20 oz beverage bottle and chips. Kids meals were $6-7 and came with juice box. I honestly was glad I didn’t pack a picnic for my family, because the food was really good and a great selection! I do recommend bringing plenty of water from home bc I didn’t find a place to refill water bottles and must only be available for purchase.
Zip Line: looked really fun! My child is too young, so I was not able to actually do this. The lines are located throughout the entire park’s property and seems like it would be a lengthy and worthwhile adventure.
Summary: ALL DAY FUN! Arrived at 10:30 and left at 5:00 pm. We LOVED the Tiger Splash (baby tigers playing in a pool while attending an educational lecture), Snake show (pet a python), Mog Safari Tour (up close encounters of endangered mammals). We valued the attention to the quality care, consideration, and respect provided to all their animals. We equally value the educational information and the additional donation option upon online tic purchase. I posted Out of Africa’s pics, which hopefully will provide you with a better understanding of the layout and expectations to plan your Safari adventure!!!
