Aperçu

Jake Williams is truly a historian who loves this city and truly puts everything into context. He is passionate about the March was he participated in a a 12 year old. There were 5 adults and two teens in our group and everyone enjoyed the tour.

A trip with Jake Williams was part of a larger group trip to Montgomery/Selma. The day we spent with him was a true highlight of our experience. Starting with a detailed and insightful talk about the history and current state of Alabama, we then were driven through Montgomery to see its historic sites. On the drive to Selma, Jake provided details of the march, the marchers, the places they camped, the reactions of people along the way...and included his own experiences of participating in the march. In Selma, we had a nice lunch at the The Coffee Shop and then walked over the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Then the trip back to Montgomery. We all learned a lot from Jake. Not only was he a very expert guide, he was also very kind and helpful to everyone in our group, including several who needed a little assistance in getting around. Highly recommend.
