We were able to spend three nights with Michael and were so fortunate to have been treated to Mother Nature’s amazing light show every night! Michael was awesome! He was very knowledgeable about the Aurora and explained everything that needed to fall into place in order for us to see it and made it clear that he had no way of knowing if it would appear or not. So thankful it did for us! Another thing that I loved since I am an amateur photographer was that he patiently went over the correct camera settings (three nights in a row) to get the best shots! Michael didn’t just drop us off and leave us to our own devices he actually made it a point to “chase” the lights on our third night and find the best viewing spot and fortunately it worked out great for us. One more thing I’d like to mention is Michael tries his best to make sure his clients have the best chance of seeing the aurora and rescheduled a few groups that ended up joining us because the previous night’s weather forecast was not good. We are so glad we booked our tour with Michael. This was an awesome experience and the highlight of our time in Fairbanks!

I had an incredible experience on Michael's aurora photography tour in Fairbanks! Michael reached out a couple of nights before my scheduled tour to suggest switching to another evening with better weather conditions. I’m so glad I was able to make the change because the viewing conditions were perfect, and the aurora did not disappoint! It was clear that Michael is deeply passionate about both photography and sharing the beauty of the aurora with others. This tour is perfect for for those who want to capture the aurora with their system cameras. Michael was hands-on with helping everyone set up their cameras and providing expert tips to get the best shots. The cozy cabin was a huge bonus—hot drinks, snacks, and a warm space to recharge between viewing sessions made the experience even more enjoyable. Michael’s professionalism, enthusiasm, and attention to detail truly set this tour apart. If you’re looking for a personalized and well-run aurora photography tour, I can’t recommend Michael enough.

Hands down BEST Northern Lights tour! This small group tour was led by Michael who is a born and bred Alaskan who went above and beyond to ensure we got to see the lights! He was constantly monitoring Aurora activity on his phone while driving out to his beautiful Alaskan country home, ready to chase the Aurora if needed. It was so beautiful at his property which has 360 degree views of the Aurora for when it changed directions. He took amazing high tech camera photos that were so good, I paid extra for additional pics. As a solo traveler I was so grateful to have a tour that kept numbers small and intimate. Inside was warm and cosy and the windows were big enough to view the aurora and wait for them to become more active before stepping out into the cold. You have to be ready though, they can come and go quickly! Note: You can see the lights better on your phone than the naked eye at times so please don’t be disheartened if they’re not as bright at first. This natural phenomena is unpredictable so you need to go into these tours with low expectations and trust with patience. I was super grateful to see the lights change from green to red and dance in the sky but some nights are not like this. We even saw some Moose on the way back which made the tour even better 🫎 I highly recommend going with ‘Face the Outdoors’ for this exceptional authentic Aurora tour! Thank you!
