My review might be different from the normal tourist looking to spend some time on the water in Ketchican. I do the same as Mike being a professional guide. The PayPal feature was painless to book the trip. Mike was right on time meeting us at the boat. It was a short walk to his boat. Here is where the job starts as a guide. First of all his boat is a year or two old. He fishes a Hewescraft boat that has a totally enclosed cabin capable of seating 5 or 6. He runs a Honda 250 four stroke, environmentally friendly, outboard, that pushed the boat about 25 mph. The boat and all the gear was sparkling clean and ready to fish. Mikes pre trip safety briefing was spot on professional. Purchasing license and stamps right on the boat was a plus. On the way out to fish Mike was very careful to deliver a smooth ride and this is something most clients wouldn't notice but I did. We ran several miles down to a large underwater hump, dropped our bait and immediately caught fish. There were 5 fishing. Two teen boys, two men and my wife. We were halibut fishing. I believe we caught 7 halibut and 1 shark in about on hour. I suggested, a little fellow guide courtesy, that we move spots and get off Mike's hole before we fished it too hard, and move to some salmon fishing. We ran down the river a few miles and dropped the down riggers to troll for some king salmon. There were several orcas in the area that had the fish spooked but Mike worked his plan and we did catch a nice king salmon. We posed for some pics of our catch and Mike was great. We decided to have our catch cleaned and shipped back to TX and Mike dropped our fish off at the processing plant. Even if we wouldn't have caught a fish, I would still be writing a great review of my day with the the Alaskan Catch. Mike has been fishing his whole life and he hasn't lost the zeal to fish. He was fresh and eager and that's a tough quality to find in a guide these days.

Other larger charters in Ketchikan came in empty handed. Captain Mike really enjoys seeing his clients catch fish. We easily limited out on Halbut and even released a couple. We were even fortunate to bring in a nice King Salmon.I cant recommend Captain Mike and Alaska Catch enough.

I am a local resident from Ketchikan, Alaska and I always use mike when I want to go out and try my luck going fishing for halibut or salmon. I always have a wonderful fishing experience with him... He never disappoints... So if you want a go fishing and have a good time doing it, I recommend the Alaska Catch Fishing Charter and Captain Mike.
