Desert Highlights is Moab's original canyoneering guide service. This half day canyoneering tour visits a route that Desert Highlights' founder created as a technical guided canyoneering route in the late 1990's. Here, we explore an area that most people would not visit on their own. With the use of ropes and other technical gear, a competent guide and a sense of adventure, we are able to explore areas that are otherwise inaccessible. The Moab desert is our home and we are passionate about sharing it with others. During your guided tour, you will not only safely descend a beautiful, water-carved canyon, but you will learn about the flora and fauna, geology and history of the area that we are so lucky to call our backyard.

This was an awesome half-day trip and a great introduction into Canyoneering. Kai was a fantastic guide. She is so good working with novices and we had so much fun chatting with her. Now that we’ve had a small taste of rappelling, can’t wait to do it again!

We chose Desert Highlights based on reviews, and we were 100% happy with our choice. We did the half day trip to Medieval Chamber and Morning Glory Bridge. My 14-year-old handled each rappel like a pro, but my 11-year-old had a really difficult time getting over his fear when faced with the drop. Our expert guide, Kai, handled this challenge with patience and skill. She was kind and supportive, and at the end of the day he said it was fun and that Kai was the best tour guide he’d ever met! The hike after the rappels was beautiful and gave everyone a chance to cool off in the water. Don’t think twice about booking with Desert Highlights!

My family (kids 13 and 9) went canyoneering with Desert Highlands in April and had an amazing experience. Could not give a higher recommendation. Melissa and Herb were fantastic - patient, encouraging- wonderful. This was my second time canyoneering with Desert Highlights and I hope to do it again.
