Looe Key (Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary)

Looe Key Marine Sanctuary is part of the Great Florida Reef, the only coral reef in the continental USA, and the third largest barrier reef system after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and the Palancar Reef in Mexico and Belize. It is a special place for snorkeling. Your captain will snorkel along with you assuring your safety–though there is nothing to worry about. All of our tours are accompanied by fair weather, calm conditions, and friendly creatures. The captain will lead the way through this groove and spur seascape to reveal barracuda, rays, shark, parrotfish, blue tang to name a few. Looe Key promises to be an experience of a lifetime, and one that you will not soon forget.

Amazing day on the water! The snorkling was outstanding with all equipment provided along with thoughtful instruction and shared local natural history/eco background that we really appreciated and added to the experience. The fishing was fantastic. We caught several species and brought home some mangrove snapper which was skillfully processed back at the dock, allowing us to enjoy our fresh catch that evening. Allison and Brian are wonderful people and excellent hosts! We can see why Keys Boat Tours is a Trip Advisor Travelers’ choice award winner. Experience an amazing day with this outfitter and enjoy the memories!

We did two separate boat trips with Keys Boat tours, snorkeling to Looe Key and then the Backcountry ecotour another day. Captain Brian is not only a very interesting person, he is a wonderful captain. He took great care to make sure the adults and the kids got to do everything we wanted to do, always in a safe manner. We knew he was keeping an eye out for our kids (one on a paddleboard and one swimming) so we could relax and swim/snorkel without also keeping an eye on them. Saw amazing marine life, swam in crystal clear waters, went paddle boarding through a mangrove tunnel, and did a little fishing. I would highly recommend him for any boat outing!

Thank you. This is a review that I hope for everyone to see when considering Keys Boat Tours as their guide, be it eco, sandbar, snorkel, paddle, fishing, combo, or a hands-on lesson. We don't just take people out. It is not just for the money. We ask ourselves when we consider a customer – if we would take friends and family out on such a day, and if so, what we would hope to do with them - so that the outcome is a highlight? Captain, Brian and Allyson are excellent laid-back fun, informative and accommodating super people. We enjoy his book and we will definitely utilize their services again if in the area.
