Being dangerously close to 60 I long ago gave up roller coasters. However, seeing a friend’s video of a “mountain coaster” made me curious. I stopped at Rocky Top Mountain Coaster in Pigeon Forge, not too far from Dollywood.
Simply put, it is amazing. The ride is quite long, with FOUR inclines over the course of the ride. Many rides like this wouldn’t give you half the length.
More significantly, it is perfect for older individuals who can’t take the wild ride of an amusement park roller coaster. You control the speed yourself, meaning if you’re adventurous you can zip along; and, if you’re not into breaking speed records you can go slower.
The ride dictates that the cars keep 80 feet apart, and they are kind enough to mark 80-foot measurements off on the sides so you know if you’re getting too close.
This was my first ride on the Rocky Top Mountain Coaster. It definitely won’t be my last.
