On Thursdays they have a special price, $29 instead of $44. The boat holds >100, but our group numbered s out 45, so there was ample room to move around. The first hour of the three hour tour was boring, but into the second hour we saw a fre gray whales. None of them breached, but we enjoyed spotting then. Next we saw a pod of white sided dolphins. Vanessa, the naturalist on board, helped us spot the animals and gave a commentary on the size, color and migration patterns of the animals. It was a great afternoon...not on par with whale watching Washington or Maine, but nonetheless an enjoyable three hours.

Just great service. There was not so much to see this time, but the crew did all possible to get the best of it. Finally spotted one grey whale and a pod of common dolphins (not much for this whalewatch, have been 2 times before), but still it looked like everyone had fun. Very professional explanations by marine biologist. The most important for me: full focus to marine life! Highly recommend!

This activity is advertised as 100% guaranteed of whale watching. The reason to do so is that if you don´t see any, they give you a bouchare for another go. Well, perhaps you cannot spend other three and a half hours giving it another try. So, better than that, why don´t they inform on the percentage of the trips in which they actually see whales in each season? 50%? 80%? Less than 30%? Less than 10% even? That would be more accurate information for people to decide if they want to spend their money and time, rather than give an exciting information about something that most times does not happen.

Thank you for joining us recently! You have a great point. At your request, we calculated the chances of spotting wildlife with the use of our log books for 2017 and 2018, thus far. Throughout the entire year of 2017, we had an ~89% chance of seeing baleen whales and exotic species (Killer Whales, Pilot Whales, False Killer Whales, etc.). This number was derived from viewing our days on the water, not individual trips. Since most days include two separate trips, this number would likely increase significantly with the increase in data. All dolphin species are whales and fall under the toothed whale category. For 2017, we calculated a 97-98% success rate of seeing whales, whether it be a sighting of either type or both. Thus far in 2018, we have had a 100% chance of seeing whales. Feel free to take a look at our Facebook photos to see for yourself! Of course, whale watching tours focus on wild animals and there will always be a small chance of not seeing whales. Please note that if you have joined us for one of those rare days, that single experience does not reflect our company as a whole. Luckily for us, our success rates have always been incredibly high. We hope those numbers are helpful to you and would love to see you on board The Privateer again sometime!
