They don't offer '2 1/2' so I had to give 2 "owl eyes" ? But officially, my score is 2 1/2.
Our day was dreary, and I recommend a jacket or hoodie because it's about 10-15 degrees cooler out on the ocean. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to boarding the ship. They provide snacks, drinks and sandwiches on the ship for a price.
This company boasted they saw 400 Dolphins, a hammerhead shark and whales. Although we did see what the crew called a Minke Whale, which they say is a rare find in those waters, Minke Whales are smaller (like a big dolphin) the crew did their best to try to keep within range of the whale, however there are rules against how close you can get to these mammals. They are protected under the MMPA.
This is a 3 hour tour, so if you get motion sickness, obviously take medication or something to prevent this before hand. There is a morning and 1:00pm tour- if you take the morning tour the water tends to be calmer.
On the way back to shore, the crew saw a school of what may have been tuna but they weren't sure (and we didn't see them), and we caught a glimpse of two bottle nose Dolphins but they were so far off, it was difficult to get a good picture. Ironically, the Dolphins were near where we departed all along. I was disappointed that the captain didn't make more of a effort to offer us 1/2 off another trip. I felt it was deserved. The crew was very friendly and if I ever carried cash on me (I only have a debit card) I would've tipped them. We will probably try I different whale watching company before we leave since I'm determined to at least get close up's of Dolphins.

We are sorry to hear that you did not see what you had hoped for. It can be a little tough to locate from time to time. Hopefully next time you are around you would want to join us again for another trip. If you view our Facebook page, you can view all recent sightings that we have experienced on the Privateer. We appreciate the review.
