We had a fantastic time on our whale watching tour!
The waves do get a bit rocky, even for those who don't normally get seasick. There was a lot of space on the boat (although at times when everyone would rush to one section, it was hard to get a glimpse of the whales).
The guide provided a lot of great narration, and kept everyone aware of when potential sightings might happen (and didn't over talk). And in the meantime, they played upbeat music, giving a fun vibe to the whole tour.
We saw a hammerhead shark, a few seals, and a couple whales (including what was possibly a mother and baby whale). We were hoping to see more, but the trip was still great.
One thing that did put a damper on our day was that we had bought a Groupon for the trip for 10 people. In the fine print, it didn't say anything about children under 2 not being allowed on board. The main reason we were going out was to celebrate my sister and her husband's anniversary, and they had their 1 year old with them. Unfortunately on the day of the trip, we found out that he couldn't come at all, and her husband had to stay on land with him. SD Whale Watch was apologetic about the misunderstanding so that helped. It was just something we wish could've been avoided.
A fun tour that's a great way to spend a few hours!
