My daughter and I spend a week in San Diego every summer and are always looking for something different to do. This year, I saw the San Diego Whale Watch on groupon and decided to give it a try. It was a 3-hour tour… yes, like Gilligian’s Island, but better. The crew was great – informative and constantly looking out for our well-being.
You can bring your own drinks and snacks on the boat or they have lots of option available for purchase (cash only). There are also restrooms available on the ship.
The day we went, we saw a megapod of common dolphins and two blue whales. Even with just a point and shoot camera, I was able to get some pretty great photos.
Some people do get sea sick on the ship, so preventive medication is recommended if you tend to get motion sickness and available for purchase onboard. It’s also chilly out on the water, so bring jackets.
Overall, it was a great tour and I would recommend it.
