First of all, I love being on boats. So do my son and husband although they have a little issue with seasickness.
Second, the knowledgeable crew spotted blue whales, fin whales and dolphins and steered us right to them.
Third, the animals were beautiful: hundreds of common dolphins, splashing, leaping next to us, ahead of us. And then the majestic whales, which seemed to be swimming in pairs, spouting and then their tails came up and they arched and dived. The boat hung around once we spotted a whale diving, because it would have to come up for air.
I can't say enough about what a wonderful excursion this was. Nothing fancy---snacks were sold in the galley below. I didn't visit. No plush seats, just benches and everywhere we were there was a good view.
I highly recommend the San Diego Whale Watch for families, couples--anyone who wants to see whales and dolphins in a no-pressure atmosphere.
P.S. Too busy looking to take pictures, but the dolphins and whales were just beautiful.
