I am so glad we took the time to visit this beautiful, historic place. This is hands down the most gorgeous cemetary I have ever seen. The azaleas were in bloom and they are absolutely everywhere in the cemetary. Our guide was so nice and knowledgeable. It really helped to have someone explaining the history behind so many of the monuments and family plots. It really enhanced the experience. I was truly floored by the history and beauty of the huge oak trees, draped in Spanish moss, the bright flowers in bloom and the stunning monuments carved by master craftsmen.

The tour was fascinating. Our guide was very knowledgeable, teaching about the various symbols on sculptures and monuments. He was a native of Savannah with a family plot at Bonaventure. It was interesting to hear his stories. He was also generous with time. Took me to the Jewish section of the cemetery after the main tour had ended. My one word of advice: If you are not driving your own car, it’s worth it to take a taxi there. Easier to find the meeting place, since it’s not a formal address. Uber fine on the way home.

Only tour I’ve done at Bonaventure, so I can’t compare - but Paschal was great. Very knowledgeable about cemetery “life!” He included enough fun facts into the history that made the tour fun and educational. Slow pace. Answered questions. Very personable.
