We booked with ISA before our trip after reading so many reviews. Our 5yo son is an adventure seeker and couldn’t wait for his lesson. We met our instructor, Christian, on the beach and he had everything ready to go. He went over safety information and made my little guy feel comfortable right away. After assessing the waves, our son decided he wasn’t comfortable on his own board, so he rode tandem with the instructor and had the time of his life for the next hour and a half. They rode in and paddled straight back out time and time again. As soon as the lesson was over our son asked if he could do it again tomorrow…we couldn’t say no so we booked again. The next day he was comfortable enough from his prior day’s experience to give it a go on his own board. I watched nervously from the beach as Christian towed him out and they bobbed up and down waiting on his first wave. I could see him teaching him how to fall, how to paddle, turn his board, everything he needed to know. When he got his first shot at a wave, he got up and found his balance long enough to ride the wave out before falling. I was terrified watching him go down the first time, but because Christian taught him exactly what to do, he was back on his board and attempting to paddle himself back out in seconds. If your kid (or you!) have the slightest interest in learning how to surf, I cannot recommend ISA enough!

Booking was easy and straight forward, our instructor Tyler called us beforehand to assist us in locating the meeting place on the beach. Tyler was great, he was patient and knowledgeable, by the end it felt like we had taken a surf lesson from a friend.

Myself, My Wife (both in our 40's) and my two kids (10 & 11) all had such a great experience at Island Style Adventures Surf School. Our first time surfing ever. Our surf instructors were kind and patient and knew how to help us all catch a wave and have a great time. The instructors were great with our kids, and they picked it up quickly. They were patient with me and my wife and helped us get there too. They went above and beyond to ensure we would have fun and made the most of our time out on the water with them. They also seemed to be having a good time and truly enjoyed their work. Also, their photographer is a miracle worker! She even made me look like I was a pro! The beach they do the lessons is conveniently located and very safe. The waves are small but consistent and perfect for learning. We had a great time! In the end, we all had huge smiles on our faces. So here's the deal, if you are considering booking surf lessons while on Maui, and you aren't going with Island Style Adventures, you're probably doing something wrong!
