March is too early! And the company MISLED me. We had a different wildlife cruise planned for the following day, but they did not look for whales. I called Major Marine Tours the day of and he told me they had been seeing whales that week, so we went for it. (he also told me a rain jacket would suffice, Thank goodness we didn't listen, it was freezing). Once on the boat, the captain told me there were likely no whales this time of year, and locals I talked to after the cruise shook their heads at the thought that a cruise would tease us that we might see whales this early in the year. This tour was long, many people were asleep the last half. They wanted to charge us $3 for hot chocolate! I will say the staff was friendly and helpful. The wildlife we did see was great, but we saw all that AND awesome glaciers on the other tour (the next day). Instead of this one, check out Lazy Otter Charters, out of Whittier. They were awesome!

Hi Kate,
Thank for taking the time to send your feedback, and we sincerely apologize that you felt misled. We recently responded to your email, but wanted to address you concerns here too. The cruise you took was our "Spring Wildlife Cruise" and there are chances of seeing gray whales, orcas, or humpback whales, but wildlife such as sea lions, seals, porpoise, eagles, otter, and mountain goats are more common this time of year. We saw orcas on March 11th and 13th, so that is why you were told we had been seeing whales, but we apologize for not being more transparent about whale watching in the spring. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip to Alaska!
