Going into the our trip to Alaska, this adventure was what concerned me most. Thinking of a trip to Alaska as a once in a lifetime trip, we figured we'd pay for the best and get the Summit Tour with glacier landing. I was debating a lower tour or skipping the landing, but if we only come once we should do the best, and it did not disappoint.
The day we were scheduled to fly, it was forecasted to be rainy all day and I called to rebook for the next day, I highly recommend flexibility in your schedule in case you run into the same thing. Th e morning of our flight, it was foggy and rainy and we were concerned again, but while spending time in Talkeetna the sun began to peek out and we were hopeful.
The plane had seats for 10 and we put on oxygen masks over 12000 feet. Our pilot (Dave/Dan? sorry!) was awesome! He pointed out landmarks, told history of the area. Flight was smooth, he turned the plane so both sides could always see the views. Denali was beautiful. He smoothly landed on fresh snow on the glacier, and offered to take several pictures of our family (and did an excellent job of that too).
If you go to Denali, spend the money and do this trip, it will be a favorite family memory for a lifetime!
