This was a fantastic day’s adventure, from start to finish. We met up at the flagpole a few minutes before 12:30, and departed on time after a using the public restrooms at the parking lot. The boat was very comfortable, with a large canvas cover for plenty of sun protection for those who wanted it. The tour started off strong with tons of dolphin sightings within the first 5 minutes. They appeared around the boat and then chased our wake, flipping and leaping right behind our boat! Our captain put a device in the water to let us hear them communicating with their squeaks, it was very cool. We also saw and learned about pelicans, cormorants, sandpipers, egrets, a burrowing owl pair, an osprey and her two babies, a non-indigenous iguana, and even several manatees! Let’s not forget a relaxing stop at a gorgeous deserted island for a swim and some fantastic shelling. We got up close to the ruins of the ruined dome houses and also got to see plenty of beautiful new houses. I would highly recommend this trip to people of all ages, as the excitement level is high, but the activity level is low (or higher if you choose to swim/snorkel at the island).
