Kilauea
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on earth and has been continuously erupting since 1974. Here we will explore the East Rift Zone of Kilauea, including Kilauea Crater, Pu’u O’o Vent and it’s lava flows that are currently entering the Pacific Ocean. The tour will then fly north up the windward side of the island passing Hilo town, the wettest town on earth and the heavenly Hamakua Coast. Then we will whisk you up north to explore the seven windward valleys of Kohala. First stop is the windward side of the Kohala Mountains where we will fly the coastline of Waipio Valley and then move westward to Waimanu Valley. Waimanu can experience annual rainfall of up to 200 inches, fueling 1500+ ft waterfalls, some of the tallest in all of Hawaii.

A fantastic day with our pilot Pete and the staff at Moana Loa. We were initially scheduled for Monday morning, but the weather patterns did not look ideal, so they suggested rescheduling for Wednesday and the weather was perfect. We saw bubbling lava, huge waterfalls, and lush coastline. Peter was extremely knowledgeable about the Big Island, and was entertaining as well! The fact the it was a private tour made it extra special. We can't wait to use this company again on our next visit to this beautiful state!

Aloha ! Thank you so much for taking the time to review your private helicopter tour on TripAdvisor. We really do appreciate it. We are finding that more and more people are choosing to have a Private Helicopter tour rather than being crammed into a helicopter with people they don't know - with no guarantee of a window seat. Private is the ONLY way to go in our opinion. You have your own pilot, the tour is at your pace and you get to see the things YOU want to! Come and try us in O'ahu or Kaua'i . Get in touch first and we'll arrange a discount coupon for direct bookings! A hui hou. :-) The Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours Team

If you want to go for a helicopter flight on one of the islands of Hawaii, Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours is my recommendation. We did a private tour with the doors-off option on Kauai and Big Island and are still living of the memories. Germans flying on Kauai should ask for Roman as pilot, since he is a very experienced Austrian pilot which can give you the tour in German language. Kauai is beautiful from the ground but from above it is breath taking and I don’t find words to describe the beauty. On Big Island we did the two hour tour to see most of Big Island from above, especially the active volcano and its lava flowing into the ocean with all the steam. Big Island seen from the ground and from above is two different pairs of shoes. The aerial view gives a better impression of the dimensions, the geological history, volcano activities and the simple beauty of this island you will not identify from ground level only. Yes, both flights were expensive, but they are worth every single dollar. The team around Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours does all the necessary to make the stay, introduction and flight as comfortable and convenient as possible. We give them 100% and all thumbs up. If we ever come back to Hawaii we will definitely be returning costumers.

My wife and I recently experienced the full island tour of the Big Island with Mauna Loa and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. They did a fantastic job of laying out what we'd be seeing and where we'd be going before the the trip started as well as giving us a detailed rundown of all of the different areas of the island. We've been in helicopters before and this was one of the least turbulent and definitely most scenic rides we've taken. The pilot was well experienced and made us feel completely safe at all times. Will definitely use them again when we return to Hawaii to explore more of the islands.
